  Job brief:

Heal Africa Health City Share Company (HAHC-SC) is a self-contained medical services delivery center that is planning to provide one-stop shopping service in one geographic location. It is striving to satisfy citizens’ high level health demand through opening of super-specialty hospitals, specialized medical teaching centers, pharmaceutical services, etc.

HAHC-SC is seeking a highly motivated and an experienced Deputy CEO to manage the day-to-day operations of the company. Under the leadership of the CEO, the incumbent is expected to manage and oversee the day to day activities of the company, improve effectiveness and efficiency of the company to drive performance and profitability, build positive organizational culture, provide inspired leadership to the executive team, establish a strong working relationship with the board of directors, and set a business strategy for the company, etc.

Currently, the share company owns new business and transition department is established, during this transition, which might take from four to six months, the candidate, in addition to the below specific roles and responsibilities, will work as a co-chair for the transition department and reports directly to the head of the department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day to day activities of the share company and its subordinate organizations;

  • Communicating, on behalf of the company, with shareholders, government entities, and the public;

  • Leading the development of the company’s short- and long-term organizational strategies

  • Evaluating the work of other executive leaders within the company, including directors

  • Maintaining awareness of the competitive market landscape, expansion opportunities, industry developments, etc. and guiding the company towards better effectiveness, efficiency and profitability

  • Ensuring that the company maintains high organizational culture and delivers its social responsibility 

  • Assessing potential risks to the company and ensuring they are monitored and minimized and mitigating strategies are in place

  • Providing inspired leadership company-wide and making timely decisions when needed

  • Regularly reporting to the board of directors and keep them informed.

  • Developing and implementing operational policies and strategic plans.

  • Help with recruiting new staff members when necessary.

  • Creating a working environment that fosters ethics, performance and positive morale.

  • Overseeing the company’s fiscal activity, including budgeting, reporting, and auditing.

  • Working with hospital CEOs, College heads, senior stakeholders, chief financial officer, chief information officer, and other executives.

  • Assuring all legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitor compliance with laws and regulations.

  • Identifying and address problems and opportunities for the company.

  • Build strong alliances and partnerships with other strategic organizations.

  • Leading and motivating subordinates to advance employee engagement and develop a high performing managerial team

  • Overseeing all operations and business activities to ensure they produce the desired results and are consistent with the overall strategy and mission

  • Review financial and non-financial reports to devise solutions or improvements

Job Requirements

Qualifications and skills:

  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline (MBA or MSC) with some basic health background.

  • Ability to build consensus and relationships among executives, partners, and the workforce.

  • Understanding of human resources and personnel management.

  • Experience with corporate governance.

  • Proven negotiation skills.

  • Ability to understand new issues quickly and make wise decisions.

  • Ability to inspire confidence and create trust.

  • Ability to work under pressure, plan personal workload effectively, and delegate.

  • At least four years of proven experience as CEO or in equivalent managerial positions

  • Experience in developing profitable strategies and implementing vision

  • Strong understanding of corporate finance and performance management principles

  • Familiarity with diverse business functions such as marketing, PR, finance etc.

  • In-depth knowledge of corporate governance and general management best practices

  • An entrepreneurial mindset with outstanding organizational and leadership skills

  • Analytical abilities and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills
