Job Summary:
The Breeding Officer is responsible for achieving industry standard for livability and productivity of breeders to increase the profitability of the company, in addition, the Breeding Officer is responsible for communicating and reporting critical information to Breeding Manager.
Duties and responsibilities
Operations house cleaning and preparation
Ensure timely disposal of poultry manure
Conduct proper cleaning and disinfection
Make sure all windows are working properly
Make sure all electrical systems for brooder and light installed or well maintained
Make sure all tankers and water lines are flushed and disinfected
Make sure enough feeders, drinkers, brooders and thermometers are ready
Ensure the house with disinfected litter and is pre-warmed before chicks arrive
Make sure starter feed and water is ready
Ensure recording materials are in place
Make sure weighing scales are purchased and ready
After chick arrival, ensure proper receiving, counting and inspection of chicks
Conduct grading and separating of weak chicks for special care
Weigh representative samples after arrival
Ensure room temperature and humidity are appropriate based on breed standard
Follow up the vaccination schedules of the vaccine
Conduct the right vaccine at the right time as the company schedule
Report day and night chicken mortality to Breeding Farm Manager on time based the company reporting schedule
Weighting, Grading, and Uniformity
Weigh representative samples of chicks every week and compare with their breed standard
Conduct grading bases on their weight
Ensure the chicks are at least 80% uniform
Provide Special care for those smaller chicks to increase uniformity
Litter Management
Ensure the litter is always dry
Monitor the odor, color and consistency of the litter regularly
Monitoring and dispose if there is wet litter timely and properly Maintenance
Develop routine preventative maintenance for water pump, water lines, automatic drinkers, windows, doors, building, ventilations, and all other equipment’s
Improve breeding farm environment (Cleanliness, design, ventilation)
Make desertions to conduct any repairs in-house or outsource based on urgency and economic efficiency
Prepare adequate nests and perches at the required time
Biosecurity and Quality Control
Periodically review and improve adequate biosecurity program
Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of production houses and surroundings
Set clear standard and ensure all eggs going to hatchery are graded a quality
Monitor accuracy of vaccinators (dosing, cleaning and sterilizing equipment’s)
Conduct postmortem analysis and discuss with team on points of improvements
General Management
Ensure proper reporting of eggs
Keep records of all eggs going to hatchery, going to store and calculate if there is any records difference in a regular way
Keep records of mortality, uniformity, production and body weight of all ages of breeders
Identify staff development gaps and conduct training to improve performance and management
Prepare checklist for attendants and supervisors
Prepared weekly Egg reconciliation report
Coaching, evaluation and performance management plan for the team and subordinates.
Education
BSC Degree in Veterinary Medicine or related fields
Experience
