Job Description

The U.S. Mission in Addis Ababa/Ethiopia is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Procurement Agent.

The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week)

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Supervisory Position: No

Duties

Reviews purchase requests for completeness and decides type of procurement action. Prepares purchase orders and when funded, purchases items or faxes/sends orders to offshore and local vendors. Follows up on orders to make sure the vendor can fill the order. Drafts correspondence and related documents. Purchases items off the shelf on the local economy. Tracks status of all procurement actions. Upon receipt of goods and services, closes out purchase order file. Maintains procurement files, catalogs, Federal Acquisition Regulations, bulletins and circulars. This position reports to the General Services Officer (GSO) through the Procurement Supervisor. 

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Three years of progressively responsible experience in the procurement and purchasing field is required.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION: Two years of university studies are required.

Evaluations: 

LANGUAGE:

Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing Amharic is required.

Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required.

(You are required to pass the English Placement Test (EPT) that is conducted by the Human Resources Office).

Skills and abilities: Must be able to work quickly and calmly under pressure, must be able to organize and prioritize work assignments, provide follow-up, and notify supervisor immediately of potential problems. Must have basic computer skills including familiarity and ability to work effectively on the Internet. Must have a valid 2nd or Auto Ethiopian driver’s license for a minimum of 5 years. (These may be tested)

Agency Benefits:

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Addis Ababa/Ethiopia may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
