The WASH coordinator is a management position that involves planning, management, and monitoring of the WASH program (water systems, sanitation infrastructures, hygiene promotion, and capacity building of staff) in Guji zones. He/She is responsible for the overall management of WASH projects including site assessment, site identification, proposal development, design of the water systems, preparation of BoQ, specifications, and drawings. The position requires supervising Sanitation and Hygiene promotion, and WASH officers. The position also requires proper management of the financial, material, and other resources under the program and reporting periodically to the supervisor. The WASH coordinator report to the Field program Coordinator.
Job Description/Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Role and Responsibilities:
Conduct /update WASH assessment in the drought-affected woredas of Guji zone hotspot woredas in collaboration with governmental sector offices.
Develop WASH proposals based on the need assessments, identified gaps, and requests of the zonal, and woreda sector offices and in collaboration with the Addis WASH team.
Prepare detailed activity, procurement, and spending plan on the available grants; and follow on monthly bases the actual execution and spending budget.
Liaises with HR/Admin, Logistics, and Finance departments to ensure smooth operations of WASH activities.
Manage maintenance/installation of water systems including construction/rehabilitation/maintenance of water systems, procurement & supply of electromechanical parts, rehabilitation materials, etc,
Ensure the proper rehabilitation or maintenance of motorized boreholes, shallow wells, hand-dug wells, and rainwater harvest systems in institutional
Oversee stores management and liaise with the logistics to ensure that bi-weekly checks are made on-site stores and stock records
Ensure that all constructed, rehabilitated water and sanitation facilities has to be kept in soft and hard copies
Prepare ToR related to WASH activities (Training, assessment, field visits) and review the contract documents in collaboration with logistics.
Organize training for WASHCo, and staff as required.
Produce all the necessary designs and bills of quantities, specifications, and necessary drawings for the water system and prepare to follow-up guidelines for the required equipment, goods, tools and materials.
Ensure that all water supply and sanitation infrastructures constructed or rehabilitated meet the highest quality.
Participate on the end evaluation of the program and surveys.
Administrative and Coordination
Ensure accurate and timely reporting of activities to IMC, WASH program Coordinator, WASH Manager and M&E team as required (monthly, quarterly and final reports)
Maintain close relationship with relevant Regional, woreda line offices, Kebele administration.
Prepare performance targets with field officers and support FM and Field Coordinator on the staff evaluation process.
Assigned additional responsibilities as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
University degree in Water Resources, Hydraulics, civil, environmental engineering or another related field.
Four+ years’ experience in WASH activities, preferably in a humanitarian setting
Experience of supervising staff and interacting with other partners
Proven management, project planning, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Competent in Windows, MS office programs, email, and database experience.
· Ability to work under pressure in an emergency situation
