JOB SUMMARY

Working with and directly reporting to the Deputy Director Commercial Centers, the Biomedical Engineer will be in charge of maintaining electrical equipment, repair overhaul services of health facilities equipment and electrical components, install and manage the biomedical and laboratory devices of MSI Ethiopia owned centers [ Maternity Centers and SRH centers and MSI Ethiopia supported facilities Private health facilities] 

Provide electrical maintenance, install new medical equipment, overhaul services of health facilities equipment and electrical components, install and manage the biomedical and laboratory devices.

Duties and Tasks

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenances on laboratory and biomedical devices to all MSI Ethiopia owned centers and MSI supported private health facilities.

• Training staff to use equipment safely.

• Troubleshoot and repair office machines.

• Perform electrical maintenance and installation works as per the maintenance request raised.

• Maintain, support and supervise the emergency generators with the technicians assigned.

• Maintain the air conditioners and refrigerators, washing machines and hand drier etc.

• Conduct maintenance and repair of clinical and medical equipment’s to all MSI Ethiopia owned centers and MSI supported private health facilities.

• Delivering, assembling and testing of medical equipment, train technicians and end-user.

• Develop medical equipment specifications and participate in technical committee of MSI Ethiopia and perform technical evaluation during the procurement process of the equipment.

• Writing and documentation of technical evaluation of medical equipment reports

• Support the procurement department for the materials ordered by the departments.

• Closely work with equipment manufacturers and supplies of medical equipment’s on technical issues such as malfunctions, deficiencies, spare parts and potential improvements.

• Record time and spare parts used; stock fast moving spare parts.

• Produce weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly reports.

• Perform related task as required.

Job Requirements

Qualification Requirements:  

Education: Diploma & above in Biomedical Maintenance

Experience: At least 4 years of experience for BSC and 6 years of experience for Diploma in biomedical equipment maintenance or directly related experience (preferably in medical equipment)
