Job Description
The Fleet Manager is responsible for planning, directing, managing, coordinating and supervising the programs for acquisition, assignment, utilization, maintenance, repair, replacement and disposal of fleet vehicles. Fleet manager also serves as the primary contact concerning the vehicle fleet and operations.
Monitoring and tracking of company assets.
To oversee the effective execution of all planned routes.
To assist and manage the daily compliance & administrative tasks in a timely and effective manner.
Ensure the correct SOP’s are adhered to, when alarms/exceptions are generated.
Assisting drivers with route directions/deviations.
Monitor driver discipline and escalate any transgression to his/her manager.
Track and monitor incorrect PDA usage by drivers.
Handling, reporting of hijackings and vehicle theft.
Coordinate tracking installs and maintenance.
Fuel consumption monitoring and investigations.
Update of daily KPI’s.
Communicate exceptions and alarms to the designated Business unit.
Accurately capture fuel metering transactions.
To maintain the integrity of the data in the tracking system.
Ensure all breakdowns are reported timely and are followed up and wagons are released from cripple status once repaired.
Create and maintain fleet files;
To keep customers fully appraised of all stoppages i.e. progress, problems etc.
Ensure all vehicle maintenance checks are up to date including MOT’s, road tax;
To ensure final costs are submitted as required within a timely manner;
Ensure efficient booking of vehicles using our approved garages and through 1 link to ensure minimum downtime and operational impact;
Management & interrogation of costs relating to damage/fines/repairs/invoices/applications;
To assist Field Service staff with the movement of wagons into a suitable safe working area and in sourcing of spare parts to ensure speedy repairs;
Running Motor vehicle cost reports for finance;
Ensure fleet policy is up to date with current legislation;
Advice and guidance to operators and managers on fleet compliance issues,
Keeping accurate compliance records and ensuring successful completion of audits;
Degree in Supply Chain Management, Transport Management, Business Management, Information Technology, Management of Information System, or related
At least 2 years of experience preferably in related area.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong problem finding skills and ability to work as part of a team.
High sense of responsibility and attention to detail
