About the role
The post holder will provide technical support and supervise the delivery of this water intervention programme by partners in the field, as well as externally representing Christian Aid at the regional sectoral office where appropriate. The role is located in the Ethiopia Country Programme, which sits within the Africa Division of the International Department. The role is line managed by the Senior Humanitarian Program Officer. In addition, the post holder will provide technical guidance and support to partners and especially ensure that monitoring, evaluation, and programme reporting are carried out in accordance with Christian Aid’s quality standards and donor requirements.

Job Requirements:
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic candidate who is result focused, have good communication skill, Building/maintaining effective relationships. Educated to degree level in Water Supply and Sanitation Engineering, Hydraulic engineering, Water Resource Engineering, or Civil Engineering. 7 years’ of NGO experience in water supply construction, maintenance and equipment operation, with At least 2 of those years in a supervisory capacity. Or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
It is essential for the candidate to have strong skills, knowledge and experience in:
Water CAD, Water GEMS, Epanet, KY Pipe, Geo Node, InfoWater and Arc GIS Engineering software applications and water supply designing technology.
Strong experience of designing electro-mechanical equipment such as pump and generators, and familiarly with design applications e.g., Grundfos or similar.
Strong analytical skills and a good understanding of a range of methods for monitoring, evaluation, and assessment, to promote evidence-based learning.
Proven experience of leading participatory vulnerability and capacity assessment processes.
Familiarity with programme cycle management approaches and tools, including participatory planning, monitoring, evaluation, learning and documentation.
Understanding of health and safety risk management and assurance.
Well-organized and able to learn concepts and complex systems quickly.
Ability to work independently and in a self-directed manner, to meet deadlines.
Experience of working under pressure and with multiple priorities.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build cross-cultural relationships remotely across geographic boundaries.
Experience of working with partners.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion where appropriate.
Strong IT skills and in depth knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes including MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
Ability to manage and organize information systems and establish and maintain filing systems.
