Job Description

The Digital Health Activity (DHA) is a five-year project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) that supports the Government of Ethiopia (GOE) to achieve the country’s Information Revolution Roadmap, one of four Transformational Agendas of the national Health Sector Transformation Plan (HSTP). The DHA helps build a sustainable, resilient, and interoperable health information system (HIS) that ensures the entire health sector has the data, analytics, and skills necessary to improve the health and well-being of all Ethiopians.

The DHA closely works with the Ministry of Health (MOH), regional health bureaus (RHBs), and health sector agencies to build on the successes of the Information Revolution (IR) in the first HSTP period.  The DHA actively supports the Government of Ethiopia (GoE) to develop and use a suite of resilient electronic health information systems to build the capacity of actors to analyze, digest and use quality data for flexible and adaptive leadership, leverage innovative strategies for government-driven support, build HIS capacity and ownership at all levels, and closely work with Universities and Health Science Colleges to design/ innovate sustainable strategy of capacity building intervention for pre-service and in-service trainings

The DHA intends to build capacity by producing next cadre of professionals who are well versed with electronic health information systems, including DHIS2, eCHIS, HRIS, Vitas, and others by providing internship opportunities for current or recent graduates.

Internship scope statement

An internship is a full time work and learning  experience, closely aligned with the intern’s major field of study and arranged to aid in the training and education of the student. It is of a short duration, for six months period. DHA’s capacity building team plans to provide the interns with a progressive educational experience, by assigning them to work in teams with varied dynamics and strong technical skills.

The scope of this internship program Produce next cadre of DHIS2, eCHIS, HRIS, Vitas, and other to help the sector build new and upcoming talent. The participants will receive practical experience in the multiple stages of by attaching in existing capacity development, data use and system strengthening teams. They will have self-paced online training on different subsystems, hands-on experience through working with and mentorship by respective teams. The duration of the program will be for 6 months in which the participants will get a chance to work with different teams.

Administration, monitoring and reporting

The activities of the interns will be overseen by the capacity building and data use teams and will be closely monitored by the team that they are assigned to work with. They will be expected to attend daily standups where they will present their previous day’s work and get assigned work for the day. They will report to the team lead that they are assigned to work with.

Job Requirements

·         First Degree in Public health, Medical doctor, other related health sciences, who graduated within the last 18 months.

·         Proficiency in common computer packages (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel and and the Google Suite)

·         Uphold JSI’s standards and ethics as related to fraud management.
