Ethiopian Construction Design and Supervision Works Corporation (ECDSWCo.) is transforming and diversifying from the current consultancy business operations. Taking advantage of the existing ECDSWCo.’s strength and maximizing on the newly emerging external opportunities that are being prevalent with the shifts in Ethiopian Economic Policy – the Corporation is aiming to play a significant role to the success of the Ethiopian Construction Industry -by creating a vibrant business institution that will not only fill the gap that is in the current construction industry, but also replace the need for having international construction companies that are dominating the government mega scale projects.

To this, the Corporation is emerging as an Engineering and Investment Group. The proposed name of the Group is ‘’Ethiopian Engineering and Investment Group (EEIG)’’. The Group will comprise of three main operational business units i.e., Consultancy, Construction and Investment.

EEIG-Construction business unit key activities are high-end complex construction projects, predominately high-rise commercial and residential buildings, real-estate; infrastructure (roads, railways and airports) & water and energy sector construction. EEIG-Construction alone would grow into a conglomerate of several business units including Piling, underground and foundation Works, Fit-Out, Energy (Solar Solutions), Electro- Mechanical Solution, Facility Management, Landscape and Construction Materials Production.

Position Overview/Scope of role:

To enable efficiency and effectiveness of business and project through smooth and continual preventive maintenance planning, designing, configuring, installing, upgrading, maintaining, testing, securing, the Company’s all IT and related resources through a day-by-day support for all IT system users for the software facilities, hardware facilities, communication facilities etc.

To deliver quick resolution of issues and problems with IT services by analyzing requirements, resolving problems, and installing hardware and software solutions.

To give all rounded IT Services support to all users in all project sites.

Evolving from supportive team to a central role, to realize this and insure IT as backbone is strong, reliable stand to gain an advantage when biding, designing for new contracts and insuring project are finished on time and within budget.

Top Roles and Responsibilities:

· Implement and execute the business continuity operation as per the standards and guidelines of business continuity management and IT procedure and governance.

· Develop and maintain an inventory of all IT tools and devices Inventories mainly on project sites

· Implement networks by evaluating network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput, and latency.

· Implement and execute the IT network infrastructure security.

· Install and configure network systems.

· Implement, and maintain internet, intranet, and extranet sites.

· Install and administer ERP and other application software from the client user’s side in all project sites.

· Maintain up-to-date documentation of network software, configuration details and baselines and operational procedure.

· Address network optimization issues by maintaining performance tuning, troubleshooting, and escalating problems to vendors and service providers.

· Monitor networks to ensure security and availability to specific users by developing network access, monitoring, and control and evaluation mechanisms.

· Upgrade network by developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements and patches.

· Install additional components and remove old ones from the network as required.

· Install, assemble, configure and Maintenance of computers, monitors, network infrastructure and peripherals such as printers, scanners and related hardware according to applicable guidelines.

· Perform schedule, unscheduled preventative maintenance on computer hardware and peripheral systems.

· Troubleshoot highly business critical hardware systems, network devices and other peripherals such as computer, printers, and telecommunication equipment.

· Respond to emergencies, unplanned problems and repairs timely.

· Test and verify hardware systems and peripherals to ensure that they meet specifications and requirements during acquisition.

· Configure, monitor, and maintain email applications or virus protection software.

· Coordinate with vendors and with the concerned departments within the Company to facilitate purchases.

· Participate in hardware system disposal activities/Processes as per the Company’s disposal policies.

· Control maintenance tools and equipment.

· Record IT user problems and requests.

· Engage appropriate support resources to escalate problem resolution.

· Manage user service requests.

· Close user problems and requests.

· Prepare and submit periodic performance report.  

· Performs other activities as assigned by the IT Manager.

Processes & Procedures:

· Maintain full compliance with the business process & procedures and work instructions on IT policy and procedure

· Participate in the development and implementation of IT requirement, IT Continuity, Business continuity plan Governance policies & procedures.

· Develop and implement HW and SW requirement standards and UpToDate

Analysis:

· Test and verify hardware systems and peripherals to ensure that they meet specifications and requirements during acquisition.

· Identify problems and provide solutions related to network equipment, system, and component failure.

· Perform periodical analysis on all system data sets to ensure data consistency and integrity and point out areas where he/she can initiate data clean-up measure with business to enhance the data quality.

· Inform Management immediately of any issues regarding HW, SW and any security issues in all project sites

· Proactively identify opportunities for cost reduction by technologies utilization, data standardization and challenging production data requests which are inconsistent with content strategies or cause unnecessary costs to be occurred

· Maintain up-to-date level of knowledge in system capabilities by participating different projects or requests and train as necessary to ensure understanding and compliance.

Inform any errors to business applications and data providers and proactively follow up to ensure resolution is achieved

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience Required:

• BSC degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), or related fields

• 2 - 3 Years of demonstrated experience only.

• Networking and HW& SW maintenance certificates will be an added advantage
