Job Description
The Gynecologist and Obstetrician is responsible for the overall SRH service in Abala Hospital and work closely alongside with the existing staff in the Hospital to ensure that basic SRH services like CEmONC , BEmONC , clinical treatment of rape survivors etc are resumed or reinforced . This position will be responsible for ensuring all curative SRH services at the Hospital and its catchment population. This position holder will directly report to the Hospital Medical Director/CEO.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities:
Direct and coordinate activities of SRH in the Hospital
Diagnose disease and prescribe and administer therapy medication for client
Perform Cesarean sections and SRH surgical procedures as needed
Manage and treat complications on SRH service like delivery, abortion, family planning service
Provide medical and psychological services for rape survivors
Provide standardized SRH trainings CEmONC , BEmONC , clinical treatment of rape etc for the existing staff and staff from nearby facilities together with Afar Regional Health Bureau experts and MTI Health and Nutrition Manager
Coach co-workers how to do essential procedures
Determine the kind of medical tools, equipment’s and medical supplies needed for future long-term service of the Hospital
Participate in supportive supervision of SRH services in some of the health centers together with MTI MHNT teams and Government counterparts.
Perform other duties assigned by the Hospital Medical Director or CEO
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS
This position requires frequent travel to health facilities located in remote areas with very basic living conditions.

Work Days & Hours: Monday-Saturday, 40-48 hours/week, occasional weekends and public holidays
Travel: Regular travel to field offices
EDUCATION, LICENSES, & CERTFICATION
MD + Specialty in Gynecology and Obstetrics (OBGYN)
EXPERIENCE
At least 2 years of experience working at Hospital after qualified as Gynecologist and Obstetrician. Must have valid license to operate as Gynecology and Obstetrics Specialist
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of development & humanitarian principles and concepts
Fluent spoken and written Amharic and English.
Strong interpersonal and team skills
Proven ability to be flexible in demanding situations
Excellent communicator
Ability to adapt to a changing environment
Knowledge of humanitarian principles and operations
Knowledge of MOH and WHO health systems and policies
Knowledge of the local language is an added advantage
