Job Description

The Ethiopian Construction Design and Supervision Works Corporation, ECDSWCo. in short is a recently reformed dynamic and knowledge house engaged in the study, design, construction and project management of large scale engineering infrastructure and related works. We are a design and construction solution providers mainly in large scale engineering infrastructures such as buildings, water works, airports; roads, bridges and related infrastructure. We also provide specialized services in the surveying and geotechnical investigation works through the use of cutting age capabilities and technologies such as Lidar survey and state of the art geotechnical survey and investigation equipment. 

ECDSWCo is still in transformation and is at the verge of emerging into a more robust organization to be called the Ethiopian Engineering and Investment Group (EEIG) with a motto “Engineering Excellence for Quality and Sustainability”. It is prime agenda is promoting national engineering capabilities and knowledge resources together with similar national companies through the support of the Ethiopian government.  

As the ECDSWCo is taking up its next growth front and emerging to the EEIG, is looking for a seasoned, highly educated and experienced professional to work as Investment and Development Director in its Investment and Development Wing at the Head Office here in Addis Ababa. The primary responsibility of the position holder is to provide professional services and leadership in the achievement of ECDSWCo’s/EEIG’s investment and development objectives. The followings are the main duties of the position holder among others.

A. Position Context and Objectives

Being a Senior professional, the Senior Investment Economist researches new ideas and develops statistical models and technological innovations that drives business development of the EEIG. Conducts researches and analyses economic trends and prepares recommendations based on the findings and professional expertise. Interprets and predicts economic conditions and advises management on business implications. Organizes data into report format and arranges graphic illustrations of research findings. The Senior Economist is a specialist on complex technical and business matters hence, works independently and may assume a team lead role for the work group.

Mani Duties and Responsibilities.

B. Key Responsibilities and Duties

· Support project management and business development functions with senior guidance;

· Conduct in-depth economic benefit-cost, cost-effectiveness and life-cycle cost analyses;

· Present methodological process and project findings to Clients/ Stakeholders;

· Conduct and support econometric statistical and forecast modeling;

· Conduct financial analyses and impact on the business;

· Lead the analysis and reporting of trends and technical assessments of markets tailored to EEIG’s business needs and expectations;

· Develop and share diversified knowledge of financial/ economic principles and practices;

· Carry out full-fledged investment viability studies and advise management on appropriate decisions;

· Support project management and business development functions of the Corporation;

C. Skills and Competencies

 Technical

· Proven ability to conduct in-depth financial/ economic benefit-cost, cost-effectiveness and life-cycle cost analyses;

· High mathematical and statistical knowledge and proven practical applications;

· Ability to work with relevant up to date viability analysis software and investment development models;

· Proven experience in business research and investment analysis as well as portfolio development and business management;

· Proven ability to support and lead project team;

· Proven experience in dealing, negotiating and managing business relationships with financiers and various stakeholders;

· High motivation to learn new skills and share with the team;

· Optimistic, and passionate attitude of problem-solving through application of skills and knowledge;

· Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English, including presenting analytical results and professional discussions;

· Ability to work in a team environment and willingness to work extra hours;

Job Requirements

Qualification and Experience

 · Preferably PhD and at least MSc/ MBA in Economics or Business Development from highly recognized institutions. The first degree must be in Economics from highly recognized University.

· 10 to 15 years of practical experience in successful business organizations working as Financial Analyst or Investment and Development professional, Consultant, or related assignments at a Lead or Senior positions.

· Professional certifications and performance recognition awards is a plus.

 Generally, the remuneration is attractive and considerations will also be given to the degree of fulfillment of the requirements listed above by the candidate.
