Job Description
Project Mercy Ethiopia is an international non-profit humanitarian organization working in different regions of Ethiopia to improve the well-being and livelihood of people in rural communities. We are seeking to hire an experienced, highly motivated, and qualified person to fill the position of Agriculture Program Manager at our site office located at butajira. The incumbent will be responsible to manage and monitor the proper functioning of the Project design and its implementation.
Principal Duties include:
Supervise and ensure the quality of the project activities according to the needs and the organization’s strategy
Train, support and manage the project team composed of 15 to 20 persons
Prepare narrative and financial reports, write project proposals and establish budget
Comply with the administrative and financial services required for an effective implementation of the project
Plan, supervise, monitor and organize the project implementation (logistic, etc)
Ensure the monitoring and evaluation and reporting component of the project
Supervise, evaluate and take appropriate decision concerning the subordinating staff
Represent Project Mercy and ensure the project coordination with the MoA and Kebele agents, partners and other stakeholders
Workplace/location: Yetebon, Butajira (approximately 150 km from Addis Ababa)
Incumbent is responsible for creating and maintaining collaborative working relationships with the team. She/he will perform other duties as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Personal Attributes:
Strong emphasis for agriculture development and rural household livelihood
Team spirit and management skills
Field commitment
Strong technical skills in agriculture fields (agronomy, Soil and water conservation, agroforestry)
Strong analytic skills and synthetic mindset
Excellent level in computer software (MS Pack office)
Ability to develop quality reports in English
Inclination and high capacity to prepare and conduct training
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Personal Attributes:
Work experience as Agriculture Project Manager
work experience in NGO or similar setup
Work experience in a rural setting
Education:
Masters Degree in relevant field (Agriculture sciences, Economy, Rural Development, Project management )
Experience:
7 to 10 years of relevant experience with project management responsibilities for NGO or similar setting on agriculture program.
Language:
Excellent written and spoken skills in English and Amharic
