ETHIOPIAN AGRICULTURAL TRANSFORMATION INSTITUTE
Position: Event and Communication Officer
Term of Employment: Six months with possibility of extension
Duty Station(s): Addis Ababa

Background:
The Agricultural Transformation Institute (ATI) has been established by the Government of Ethiopia (GoE) to identify and address systemic bottlenecks to Ethiopia’s agricultural development. The Institute does this through problem-solving, implementation support, and capacity building of stakeholders involved in implementation of interventions that address the systemic bottlenecks.

The programmatic focus of the Institute responds to a core set of needs identified by the Ministry of Agriculture and other sectors along commodity value chains. Across the programs, the ATI engages public, private, and non-governmental stakeholders to support strategic planning, manage and strengthen implementation capacity and test innovative models. Currently, ATI is tasked to coordinate the revised Agriculture and Rural Development policy agendas of the sector and such sectoral level delegation requires high level expertise in the policy areas and skillsets in coordination and networking with multiple stakeholders.

Position Summary:
The Event and Communication Officer will provide administrative support to the Minster, Ministry of Agriculture in areas of communication, public relations and event organization. She/He will have the responsibility of devising communication and media outputs, ensuring the accuracy of communications, and also helping to ensure that MoA effectively engages and utilizes media to promote the Ministry’s work. The successful applicant is required to be driven, dynamic, posses a problem-solving mindset, as well as an excellent communication skill.
Essential Duties:
Plan and organize events with attention to financial and time constraints
Design, plan, and conduct in-house and other external events
Coordinate the delivery of a written manuscript to potential media
Organize and edit any social media messages to be publicized by the minister
Plan and organize communication protocols to be endorsed by the minister
Maintain relationships with key media sources and ensure goals are being met
Work with the Strategic group in developing and managing new Public Relations opportunities and strategies
Ensure events go smoothly, including choosing venues, taking minutes, facilitating catering, and related activities
Organising and attending promotional events such as press conferences, open days, exhibitions, and visits; and
Writing and producing presentations and press releases.
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
BA Degree or Master’s degree in business administration, communications, public relations, journalism, international relations, media relations or related fields of study.
5 years of experience for BA Degree and 3 years for MA with relevant experience on general corporate communication roles.
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skill
Demonstrated behaviour towards organizational values with high integrity.
Highly collaborative with well-developed organizational skills
Ability to multitasking and prioritizing tasks.
Excellent and effective time management skills and punctual
Attention to details
The ability to effectively manage email, calendar, travel, and meetings
Ability to work under pressure and in a constantly evolving and challenging environment
Proficient in the use of MS- Outlook, Power Point, excel and Word.
Fluency in English & Amharic language
