About us
Abebech Gobena Charity is a registered, indigenous, non-governmental organization founded by the devoted mother, Dr. Abebech Gobena with a vision of seeing a nation in which every child attains its fullness and become responsible and participating citizen.
The organization was founded in 1980, which was the time of severe draught in Ethiopia. Since its establishment, it undertook commendable jobs in the areas of orphans and vulnerable children. It has also been working on women (especially mothers of children) through skill training, capacity building, and other women empowerment activities Abebech Gobena Charity has been providing services like alternative basic education, HIV/AIDs prevention care and support, women empowerment, youth empowerment, health, food security, agriculture, family planning, reproductive health and community capacity building. Through its entire carrier, the organization contributed a lot in the countries’ sustainable development goals. As clearly stated in the organization’s mission, promoting children wellbeing, empowering communities and contributing to education and health advancement is the major priority areas of the organization. Over the last four decades with the relentless efforts of the founder and genuine support of humanitarian organizations and individuals, Abebech Gobena Charity helped hundreds of thousands of needy children and over 1.5 million of underprivileged people with different poverty reduction programs. Currently it is supporting 6,160 needy children both institutionally and via different intervention programs.
Orphans and vulnerable children, in and out of school boys and girls, people living with HIV/AIDS, affected individuals and families, poor young girls and women, women returnees from Arab countries, unemployed youth, and all other disadvantaged community members are directly or indirectly benefitting from the various programs undertaken by the organization.
Currently the Organization is looking for competent and skillful candidates for ‘Human Resource and Logistics Department Head’ Position.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Develops short, medium and long-term human resource management and development and logistics strategic plans and programs, and coordinates, leads and follows up their proper implementation when approved;
Ensures all working unit staff possess the required skill an competencies through a strategic human resource development programs and evaluates the impacts of strategic human resource development programs on the overall Organizational performance;
Performs new staff recruitment, promotion, transfer and termination of employees in accordance with its delegated level of authority and the Labor Law and ascertains recruitments, selections and promotions handled by delegated working units and branch offices are in accordance to the Organization’s HRM rules, the Labor Law;
Ensures that all work units at the Head Office and branch offices have all the required human resource both in terms of quality and quantity and devises ways of motivating and retaining skilled manpower;
Studies and proposes standards, procedures and rules that govern the proper acquisition, storage, supply an utilization of logistics and materials by user units and project coordination offices and follows up their proper implementation when approved;
Coordinates and leads the planning and implementation of purchases, warehousing, control and supply of materials to head office work units and branch coordination office;
Sets future strategic manpower requirement, conducts periodic training need assessment and develops human resource management and development programs and leads their proper implementation in order to meet the strategic skilled human resource requirements of the Organizational;
Ensures Labor Law and other internal human resource rules and regulations are implemented and consistently and uniformly practiced in all working units and branch coordination office;
Handles staff benefits such as medical and insurance benefits;
Ensures all properties, vehicles, buildings, office furniture are properly recorded, utilized and timely maintained;
Administer that the vehicles of the Organizational in such a way that they provide efficient vehicle pool service to work units;
Follows up the maintenance and safe handling of the Organizational vehicles, building and properties;
Ensures the proper provision of general services to work units at the head office.

Required Qualification and Competencies
B.A/M.A Degree in Human Resource Management, Public Administration, Management, Business Management, or other related fields.
5 years and above demonstrated relevant experience, of which two yeas must be in managerial position. Working in NGO environment is advantageous.
Excellent managerial skill
Fluency in writing, reading and speaking both English and Amharic language
Excellent working knowledge of computer software (MS Office such as MS Office, Excel and power point )
