Job Summary

The Job holder is responsible for technical development of software applications in collaboration with Consulting and Learning Business Units based on industry accepted methodology and appropriate and widely used programming language. 

Specific Duties/Responsibilities

• Keep up to date with industry trends and developments.

• Make choices regarding which programming languages, frameworks, and other tools to be used.

• Coach developers on technical matters, helping juniors get unstuck, including reviewing code and design.

• Set standards and follow best practice procedures to be applied to enhance the performance of the team. 

• Determine project requirements and developing work schedules for the team. 

• Liaise with team members, management, and clients to ensure projects are completed to standard.

• Delegate tasks and achieving daily, weekly, and monthly goals.

• Identify risks and forming contingency plans as soon as possible.

• Analyze existing operations and scheduling training sessions and meetings to discuss improvements. 

• Update work schedules and performing troubleshooting as required.

• Motivate staff and creating a space where they can ask questions and voice their concerns.

• Be transparent with the team about challenges, failures, and successes.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, or related fields, with eight (8) years of demonstrated hands-on experience on robust software development projects which four (4) years is at a managerial position; and 

• Solid understanding of computer science or software engineering principles, 

• Hands-on experience in various software development projects, (demonstrable) 

• Must have a solid understanding, in-depth knowledge, and experience in one or two programming languages.

• Experience with modern programming frameworks like (front-end, back-end, web and mobile development frameworks) 

• Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL

• Understanding of accessibility and security compliance,

• Carry out full functional software testing procedures, 

• Demonstrated expertise in continuous integration/delivery/deployment

• Experience with Git/GitHub version control

• Ability to analysis and critical thinking to identify and solve problems 

• Ability to thoroughly organize and check tasks up to the smallest detail for accuracy 

• Ability to stay calm in very demanding situations.

• Very good communication and interpersonal skills, presentation skills, research skills, computer skills, growth mindset and ability to motivate and mentor staff.
