We are pleased to announce the following vacancy for Specialist: Core Access Network Engineering within Technology Function in Ethiopia. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below. 

 Detailed Description 

Reporting to the Manager-Radio Network Engineering, the position holder will be responsible for below;

• Forecasting of Core Network dynamic and Static capacity requirements, upgrade plans and Inter MSR/MSC/Interconnect routes;

• Dimensioning of new core and access network elements, signaling network and Interconnect Routes, IP Packet Core;

• Analyse and advice on requirements and impact of introducing new services;

• Recommend parameter enhancements to improve the overall core network performance;

• Access Network Rollout & Implementation, Cutover, Rehomings, hardware & software upgrades, troubleshooting and Performance Tuning/Optimization;

• Development of Network Design reports and Resilient Business Continuity Plans (BCP);

• Multi-Vendor Supervision on new equipment (BSCs&RNC) ICIA and participation in ATMN testing and sign offs;

• Perform Trials with new Access Technologies in a multivendor environment and establishing their suitability and adaptability to the existing Network;

• Carrying out RAN Software and Patch upgrades and Updates to achieve quality KPIs and fix network issues;

• Participating in internal technical discussions in view to improve overall network performance and make recommendations wherever possible;

• Finding root cause analysis of potential and traffic outage related problems;

• Keeping track of hardware's & software's related changes in the RAN network;

• Troubleshooting BSC/RNC faults, alarms, overload indications. 

Job Responsibilities 

• Prepare quarterly forecasts of inter MSC, MSR and Interconnect route requirements;

• Prepare annual CNP capacity requirements;

• Prepare annual CNP upgrade plans;

• Prepare annual/Quarterly number resource requirements;

• Plans location of new MSR’s together with RPO;

• Develop standards that CNP elements/performance must conform with;

• Publish and validate test documentation for CNP elements. Review existing Test Document;

• Prepare in conjunction with vendors test documentation for new / upgraded CNP elements

• Researches and advises on the tools required for CNP analysis and design;

• Prepare configuration parameters of new CNP elements

Job Requirements

• BSc. Honors degree in Electrical/Electronic engineering with bias towards telecommunications.

• Excellent analytical skills and attention to details, Communication and interpersonal skills, Excellent trouble shooting and problem-solving skills.

• At least 2 years’ experience in Core access planning environment.

• Practical knowledge on use of radio planning tools and capacity planning tools, MySQL, M2000, NetAct, Advanced Excel, Erlang-B etc.

• Experience in process automation and database audits interfacing with planning tools.

• SQL database queries and scripting. Python scripting for data manipulation, GIS and crowd source analytics is an added advantage.

• Candidates with experience in, Nokia, or Huawei will have an added advantage.

• Practical knowledge of all RATs and interoperability is must.

• Thorough knowledge in traffic modeling, coverage and capacity forecasting& management. Knowledge in tele-traffic Engineering.

• Knowledge of Core access planning, Paging and LAC dimensioning.
