HST Consulting is looking to recruit an experienced, energetic, and committed Senior Researcher.

HST is one of the leading consulting firms in Ethiopia with all most 20 years of experience successfully delivering services in consulting, audit, tax and learning solutions. We have 250 full time professionals engaged in various practices such as strategy and organizational design, corporate finance, human capital, auditing, tax advisory, learning solutions and technology.

Therefore, HSTs goal is creating awareness for the public and industry players about trending issues, industry-specific updates, and sector performances. 

The firm aims these researches to be used as ignition point for further research in academia, professional associations, and research institutions. They can also serve as an input for decision-making in the public and private sectors. Therefore, depending on the topic of the researches and their impact, they will be presented on annual high-level meetings periodically organized by the firm in the presence of key officials from the public sector and representative bodies and companies from the private sector.

Therefore, under the firm’s strategy and knowledge management department, HST is announcing a position of Senior Researcher. The ideal candidate for the role should have: 

• A proven track record of conducting and publishing high quality research in the areas of economics, and finance.

• A deep expertise in Ethiopia’s economic and financial landscape coupled with a broad competency of excellent writing, and analytical skill is mandatory.

• The skills using data analytics software such as Excel, SPSS, STATA is essential. 

• The ability to tell a compelling story of the past using data and the foresight and the confidence to tell what the data might also implicate about the future.

• The ability to closely work with the SBU leaders of the firm and help in closely following up the major changes, critical trends, and important topics of the SBU practice areas by drawing from their expertise and insights

• The skill to see and read beyond the obvious of events happening and understand how they can affect the functioning of industries. Write professional blogs about the possible outcome of the events in collaboration with the teams in the SBUs 

• Ability to influence and build awareness with different audiences (policymakers, media and for communities) through the use of clear and effective communication

• Ability to lead teams in delivering impactful research projects

• Laser-like focus, attention to detail and the ability to stay organized, and juggle multiple priorities.

• The humility to learn from teams and leaders of the firm SBUs and the boldness to defend one’s position based on evidence considering the big picture and what’s best for the firm but not based on once own personal agenda/gain. 

• A stellar academic record and a qualification of master’s in economics and finance from a recognized university

Job Requirements

Required Education and Experience

• A minimum of Master’s Degree in Economics from reputable university with proven experience in conducting and delivering impactful research projects with high levels of autonomy.
