Job Description
I. Job Summary
The Menstrual Health and Hygiene Development Impact Bond (MHH-DIB) is a project financed by the French Development Agency (AFD) and BNPP and is implemented by CARE in partnership with Pro Pride in Adama City and the peripheries. The intervention will cover three dimensions of MHH: (i) advocacy and awareness-raising on menstruations and related issues, (ii) provision of high-quality menstrual protection products (iii) installation and maintenance of sanitary facilities adapted to MHH. These interventions will target different groups of beneficiaries (women & girls in schools, universities, workplace and in the community on the one hand and boys and men on the other. The project will use entry points such as schools, community structures/spaces, working & public places, social media and mainstream media to improve, etc.) in order to bring improvement in the MHH knowledge and practices.
The intern will fully engage on community level promotion and facilitation works, both on targeted and mass awareness and other works given by her supervisor. The intern mainly will have the following roles:
II. Responsibilities
Mass and targeted awareness raising target groups
Engaging and working with influential people, religious leaders, health extension workers, health development armies, and community-based organizations
Target women and girls in small groups for awareness raising and conduct close follow-up through a set of entry points (i.e., schools, universities, factories and Village Saving and Loan Associations (VSLAs)),
Participate on the timely distribution and proper utilization of communication materials to targeted School girls, VSLA groups, women factory employees and other outreach groups such as HDAs, HEWs, religious leaders and influential people.
Actively participate on mobilizing target groups for MHH good practice and product demand creation.
Generate data needed for the project periodical reports.
Handle other activities as assigned by the supervisor
Prepare and submit quarterly activity plans
Prepare and submit monthly progress report to the supervisor.
Prepare and submit interim updates and reports as instructed by the supervisor
Prepare and submit learnings and report from supportive supervision that will be organized by Pro Pride.
III. Gender
Understanding and demonstrated commitment to the importance of gender, youth, and social inclusion issues.
Demonstrated commitment to principles of Gender Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and PSEAH (safeguarding), as evidenced in previous positions / programming.
Educational background:
BSC degree in Sociology, social works, and other related fields with zero-year experience
Desired Technical Skills
Computer skill on Microsoft word and excel.
Knowledge of Oromiffa language is a requirement
