Hiwot Ethiopia was established in 1995. It has been working for the well being of children and youth in Ethiopia. It has been delivering a range of multi-year programs on health, education, child rights/ protection, livelihood, gender equality and disability with a number of local and international partners. Hiwot Ethiopia, with the financial and technical support of save the Children has been implementing Empower Children and their Organizations to influence government structures and demand for the fulfillment of their rights project in Addis Ababa and would like invite interested applicants for the following vacant position.
General Overview of the position
The Project Coordinator will use her/his in-depth contextual understanding, technical expertise, and relationship building skills to define and deliver our strategic ambition for Child right promotion and protection in Ethiopia. The role will lead the CRG project and the technical design and implementation of high quality programmes that deliver change for children and youth. The role will supports child focused structures , effectively implement child right programing, support accountability mechanisms , national advocacy and influencing duty bearers, while driving strategic partnerships with key stakeholders and partners, key government offices, and CSOs to promote and protect the rights of children.
It supports the design and implementation of monitoring and evaluation systems to demonstrate impact; producing and utilizing high quality and well-articulated project evidence for learning, for advocacy and for the continued development of the child right governance project portfolio; while sharing learning across our programmes, teams and partners. The role will work closely operations colleagues and with partners in Ethiopia, building their capacity and building ownership and agency of child right focused structures and partners.
The Project coordinator will also responsible for developing strong external relations with government and other strategic partners; and represent Hiwot Ethiopia by taking active part in relevant networks, meetings and forums.
ROLE PURPOSE:
Under the general supervision of the Program Director, the Project Coordinator actively engages in the development of annual plans; developing methodologies and tools for effective implementation of the project entitled ‘Empower Children and their Organizations to influence government structures and demand for the fulfillment of their rights’, monitoring and reporting; providing technical support to child focused groups (CFGs); and organizing and documenting good practices from the project. The project coordinator also works to integrate child rights governance issues mainly in government sectors or services by providing technical support, and developing tools and methodologies. The role holder is expected to provide substantial technical support to partners and continuous advocacy engagement with multiple actors. The role holder is expected to work with important actors including national, regional and local level government partners, donors, CSO partners, and media in strengthening the child right monitoring and protecting mechanisms and improve government’s accountability to deliver children’s rights in Ethiopia.
Key roles and responsibilities
Responsible for managing finance, human and materials resources of the given project/s program;
Responsible for planning, implementation, coordination, Supervision, monitoring, evaluation, reporting and learning/ MERL on the desired timeline.
Responsible to organize workshops, seminars, forums, meetings and trainings
Responsible for the effective and efficient utilization of resources ( human, budget, supplies and equipments) in cloth consultation and collaboration of program director and administration and finance director
Responsible to maintain a close working relationship with subordinates, supervisors as well as other staffs of the organization
Responsible for preparing monthly quarterly, semi-annual and annual report based on the organization, donors and government partners reporting formats and time lines
Responsible for developing new project ideas, project proposals for further program development of the organization
Responsible for creating formal communication with the city administration, woredas’, Sub city, CSOs/NGOs and community groups and ensures constructive and smooth relationships, partnership and networking
Responsible to give timely oral/ written notification and report about any defects and/ or challenges that possibly occur to the project implementation.

Job Requirements
Qualification
Suitable candidates should have BA degree and above in Human rights, law, sociology, social work and any social science related fields.
At least more than 6 years work experience on child (human) right, Child Protection, organizational development including proposal writing and related qualification. NGOs experience is required to the position.
Required Knowledge, skills and competencies
Proven work experience as a project coordinator and /or manager, or other similar tasks
Proven knowledge on national, regional and universal child right principles (UNCRC and ACRWC),
Excellent knowledge and understanding on national child right policies, legislations and implementation modalities
Excellent working knowledge of government, public policy making and implementation to engage with policy makers, decision makers and opinion formers on child right and related issues that ensures the protection and promotion of the rights of children
Clear understanding and proven experience on social accountability
Knowledge and skill on Child Budgeting advocacy works and child budget analysis
Proven work experience on safeguarding children and adult at risk and gender mainstreaming,.
Ability to implement principles of management, leadership, negotiation, and motivation skills
Proven skills in concept note development ,proposal writing and organizational development
Strong analysis of child right and related data and ability to summarise and communicate this to a range of audiences.
Proven advocacy, representation, training and facilitation skills
Ability to develop strong professional relationships and collaborations externally with stakeholders, and internally across functions, projects, and teams
Understanding and experience in monitoring and evaluation
Good communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to train and mentor staff and others
Ability to work effectively in a complex, fast-paced, matrixes, and multi-cultural environment
Ability to work with, understand, and motivate other people as individuals or in groups
Ability to coordinate and integrate all of an organization’s interests and activities
Good oral and written Communication skills of both Amharic, English and other languages
