We are pleased to announce the following vacancy for Fleet Coordinator within the Resources Function in Ethiopia. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.

Detailed Description

Reporting to the Fleet and Transport Service Lead, the role holder will ensure the overall performance of Safaricom vehicles & leased vehicles, keep records of vehicles inspected.

Responsible for the safety, operations and management of vehicles and related equipment, in addition to the maintenance, repair, licensing, driver compliance and dispatch of the company fleet of vehicles and equipment and the daily operations and reporting.

To monitor and control inspections of all types Safaricom vehicles and leased vehicles

Provides technical support for fleet management when it is needed.

Implement fleet & fuel management policy, procedure & process

Provide support to company business units in all regions, relating to vehicles and equipment purchases, maintenance, and disposals, in addition to providing information on suppliers and their capabilities.

Job Responsibilities

  • Undertake various administration functions associated with the coordinator role.

  • Responsible for the implementation of processes, procedure, and organization within the group.

  • Assure the accomplishment of the vehicle technical works in the desired technical and quality standards.

  • To work closely with the Fleet Management team to ensure accuracy of defects/reports and the rescheduling of non-serious defect rectification.

  • Ensure compliance/adherence to corporate fleet policies, to include but not limited to vehicle inspections, idling/speeding policies, damage, and accident reporting/disciplinary actions

  • Provides all required information to section supervisor/manager for decision making & reporting.

  • Suggest alternative way & means of rectifying complex automotive maintenance problem when arises.

  • Often keep the safety work standards.

  • Managing fleet Maintenance activities performed by an outsourcing garage and ensure it is timely and up to date.

  • Investigate complaints, accidents, operations and maintain a database for accident record keeping.

  • Prepare work order confirmation for the repaired/maintained vehicles and sent to procurement to affect the payment and follow up the payment process.

  • Prepares daily & weekly reports of fleet maintenance related activities.

  • Establishes and maintain records for all vehicles, and properly file in their permanent records and ensure reports can be easily retrieved,

  • Assist the fleet management team during annual vehicle inspection and periodic servicing

  • Establish and maintain proper controlling mechanism while replacing parts by outsourcing garages.

  • Assist and participate in all bid preparation and evaluation process that are related with fleet section.

  • Operate the company vehicle maintenance quality control systems for vehicle repairs and tire inspections.

  • Participate & assists in the preparation of technical specifications & economical evaluation of fleet related issues.

  • Managing drivers so they adhere to strict schedules.

  • Ensuring all vehicles are correctly Registered and with the right licenses thus complying with Ethiopian Transport laws and regulations.

  • Developing strategies for greater fuel efficiency.

  • Scheduling regular vehicle maintenance to ensure operational efficiency and ensuring strict servicing and maintenance times to minimize downtime and maintain schedules.

  • Monitoring driver behavior and ensuring a high level of customer service.

  • Analyzing data to increase business operational efficiency.

  • Utilizing vehicle tracking and GPS systems to monitor drivers and track vehicles

  • Establish/maintain key relationships with fleet vendors (bulk fuel providers, parts vendors, contract mechanics, leasing companies, etc.) and ensure seamless assistance to field operations on an as needed basis

  • 100% compliance to internal and external regulations and laws on occupational road risk

  • 100% availability of fleet and transport services for employees

  • 100% adherence to SLAs by suppliers and vendors

Job Requirements

  • BA degree in Supply Chain Management and Logistics

  • 2 – 3 years’ experience in a similar role

  • Experience with onboarding Telematics and Utilization tracking system

  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills and able to work with various stakeholder groups
