Job Description

Purpose of the position:

The purpose of the Emergency crop production Officer position is to facilitate implementation of emergency livelihood project. The jobe holder is primarly responssible to the implementation of crop production and off farm micro business development components of the project. She/he is expected to identify facilitate selection of HHs to be supported crop seeds, farm tools, agronomy training and HHs who will engage in micro businesses. The job holder is expected to support and monitor the implementation of crop production recovery activities and micro buness activies participating the woreda agro pastoralist office experts. She/he is responsible for organize training session to selected target beneficiaries and provide regular support. The jobe holder also responsible to produce progress reports, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports and submit in a timely manner. 

Major Responsibilities:

·       Facilitate selection, registration and verification of beneficiary HHs to be addressed and submit the list in excel to emergency livelihood recovery project coordinator.

·       Ensure complaints are managed correctly and feed backs are provided to the complaints, and beneficiary selection is validated by relevant stakeholders. 

·       Facilitate implementation of emergency livelihood project in the target woreda as per the detail implementation plan in alignment with donor and government requirements.

·       Initiate the purchase of inputs planned in the project on time, involve in the process until the inputs are delivered to the woreda

·       Prepare input distribution plan, facilitate the distribution, collect and document input distribution list and report to emergency livelihood project coordinator.

·       Facilitate training of agricultural extension agents and roll out of the training to targeted beneficiary together with office of agro pastoralist

Monitor and collect data of project implementation regularly and report the progress and challenges and lessons learned to the emergency livelihood project coordinator.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

·       Minimum BSc/BA in the fields of Agriculture, specifically in plant science, crop production and protection and related fields.

Required Experience:

·       2-3 years’ and above experience in livelihood project implementation and/or emergency response including crop production components

·       NGO experience is preferable.

·       Knowledge and experience of emergency response is an advantage.

·      Grass root work experience in development projects management, emergency response, especially in hardship environment.

·       Previous experience of working in Afar is advantageous

·      Intensive skills of working on MS-word and MS-excel

·      Experience of supervising emergency projects 

·       Analytical skills of field data recording, good report writing and presentation

Working Environment / Conditions:

Field base with frequent travel to project sites
