Job Description

Purpose of the Job:

Help the Commission to meet their audio-visual needs on audio visual communication, broadcasting, and production through digital media. Audio-Visual officer is responsible for the setup, and running, of audio/visual (A/V) equipment used throughout the Commission. It also provides photo editing for daily news content, news releases, dispatches, and social media updates and technical assistance and support during events as requested or as needed.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and positioning audio, video and lighting equipment’s for broadcasts and recording;
  • Connecting, tuning, and configuring AV setups to ensure high-quality broadcasting;
  • Operating software to control AV technologies;
  • Setup A/V equipment for meetings and various functions around the Commission;
  • Troubleshooting A/V equipment when there are technical questions or problems related to A/V equipment and identifying appropriate solutions;
  • Provide basic instruction on the operation of A/V equipment to staff as necessary;
  • Conduct photo research to support media teams that produce longform web content, videos, and outreach materials;
  • Ensure quality of photos meets EHRC’s standards across platforms;
  • Respond to photo inquiries from program, media, and thematic functions regarding copyright, licensing, and usage terms;
  • Organize and maintain archive of photographs;
  • Perform image processing, such as color correction and resizing for various platforms;
  • Centralize and maintain list of agency contracts, licensing rates, and representatives;
  • Centralize and maintain contracts with freelance photographers;
  • Administer the invoicing and payments for photos with agencies and freelancers;
  • Develop photo guidelines for the Commission staff on sourcing and licensing photos;
  • Conduct periodic training for researchers and other relevant staff members on basic elements that make for strong photographs in documentation and storytelling;
  • Clean and maintain equipment, report damages; 

REPORT TO: Coordinator, Press Content and Media Resource 

DURATION: Open Contract/Indefinite Period

SALARY RANGE: Gross monthly salary of ETB 19,157.00- ETB 22,817.00 plus ETB 6,000.00 Housing allowance and ETB 1,500.00 Transport allowance, depending on candidate’s qualification, experience and earning history

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

  • BA degree or Level 4 college diploma in relevant field
  • 2 years of relevant experience with BA degree
  • 4 years of relevant experience with diploma
  • Computer literate
  • Knowledge of Amharic is required
  • Knowledge of other local languages is advantageous
  • Experience working as an Editor in news editorial environment is a plus
