Job Description
Duties & responsibilities:
- Responsible to manage all financial activities of the projects under his/her coordination.
- Prepare the donor acknowledgement letter for the grants received.
- Provide technical support for the project accountants under his/her supervision.
- Review all financial documents of projects under his/her Supervision
- Responsible to maintain financial documents in hard and soft copy.
- Prepare budget forecast for projects under his/her responsibility.
- Posting accounting records on Peachtree accounting system.
- Monthly closing works, adjusting entries, bank reconciliation and etc.
- Prepare periodic financial reports; such as monthly, quarterly and annual.
- Prepare donor report based on the grant agreement and as needed.
- Prepare monthly budget versus actual report.
- Prepare staff monthly Payroll.
- Ensure timely settlement of payroll deductions and government taxes such as; income tax, withholding tax, pension, and PF and etc.
- Provide support in budget preparation; Such as annual and donor.
- Work in collaboration with other finance and program teams
- Responsible to provide documents for internal and external auditors.
- Responsible to provide the necessary justifications for financial reports and documents Prepared by him/her
- Follow up proper settlement of projects and staff work advances.
- Check on payment request for budget and bank accounts balance.
- Checking reasonable breakdowns before payment is processed
- Controlling and follow up of expenses as per their allocations in the approved project document and budget transfer notes.
- Frequent monitoring of the projects financial activities.
- Responsible to prepare annual financial statements of respective Projects in IPSAS.
- Ensure that various donor regulations are complied with in all grant transactions.
- Ensure that EKHCDC's Finance and procedures policy and Ethiopian Government law are complied.
- Prepare and provide documents for donors audit as per the projects agreement and as needed.
- Responsible to carry out additional duties assigned by his/her immediate supervisor.
Reports To: Finance and Grants Management Department Head
Duty Station: EKHCDC Head Office, Addis Ababa
No. of Position: One
Term of Employment: One year with possibility of extension
Job Requirements
- BA degree in Accounting and related field from recognized higher education institution
- Five years of relevant work experience in related position
- Broad working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and practical knowledge of financial system and internal controls;
- Experience working within Government of Ethiopia regulation of NGO activities
- Working knowledge of major donor funded operations, finances services and practices
- Excellent computer skills in excel and wide range of accounting software
- Experience in NGO Grant and finance Management
- Hands on experience in finance Management software tools
