We are pleased to announce the vacancy for Developer Operations Data Engineer - CVM within the Information and Technology function in Safaricom Telecommunication Ethiopia PLC. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below

Detailed Description 

Reporting to Senior Specialist Customer Value Management (CVM), the DevOps data engineer will be responsible for building and operation of systems that collect, manage, and convert raw data into usable information for the CVM (Customer Value Management) platform.

Job Responsibilities

• Design, architect and develop ETL/ELT jobs to extract data from disparate sources and load to the CVM data mart.
• Perform various operations on data including validation, cleansing and transformations to generate useful insights.
• Develop pipelines to ingest data into the CVM platform based on business demands and use cases
• Develop and utilize advanced analytics that utilizes data to deliver maximum value to both the business and customer
• Provide guidance and advise on the best data engineering practices and technologies to deliver a best-in-class consumer value management in the most cost-effective way
• Develop automated monitoring solutions to ensure efficient support and operation of the CVM platform.
• Apply agile methodology to deliver data engineering projects.

Job Requirements

• BS or MS in computer science or equivalent practical experience
• At least 2-3 years of Experience in developing data pipelines or extract transform load jobs
• At least 2-3 years of experience with relational databases, including Oracle and MSSQL
• Experience with NoSQL databases, such as HBase, Cassandra, MongoDB
• Experience in data modelling
• At least 2 years of coding experience using Java/python/R
• Experience in collecting, storing, processing and analyzing large volumes of data.
• Proficient understanding of databases at the logical, physical, and conceptual levels.
• Understanding of big data technologies
• Knowledge of various messaging systems, such as Kafka or RabbitMQ
