Under the guidance of the Area Program Manager or Response Lead, and with the consultation of the HO Emergency WASH Manager, the Emergency WASH Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of the Emergency WASH Part of GAC Northern Ethiopia Response & Recovery Nexus Project in Afar and Tigray Regional State of Ethiopia under NECR. The staff will conduct assessments, engage in proposal developments and all project reports; support the field team in preparation of design, BOQs, and bid documents, and follow up construction of water and sanitation services, including electromechanical system, follow-up contract administration, and process payments.
Detail Responsibilities
Coordinate all emergency WASH operations, lead and participate in the assessments, feasibility studies, preparation and review of the design, BOQ and all bid documents, payments for all emergency WASH service constructions/rehabilitation/maintenances,, and water trucking services. etc
Coordinate the implementation of activities and provide technical and administrative support to district-based Project WASH Officers in the implementation of planned WASH activities for IDPs/Returnees/Host communities: Rehabilitations, New constructions, Water trucking, Sanitation and Hygiene promotions, basic WASH NFI distributions are done on time, meeting humanitarian standards, donor requirements, WV and Government policies and within budget.
Actively engage and represent the organization in the Zonal level coordination platforms and joint humanitarian need assessments, and collaborate internally with all sector staff for good sectoral integration and collaborations.
Ensure the program delivery, evaluation, and reporting (SitRep, Monthly, 4W, quarterly, annual, and donor reports) are carried out efficiently, rigorously, and within the timeframe in compliance with the established guidelines and procedures
Ensure that all interventions adhere to Do No Harm principles and with participation from all relevant stakeholders, including disaster-affected children and their families.
Coach and mentor, coordinate & supervise emergency WASH Staff of the project to ensure teamwork, sharing lessons within implanting districts and as well as in the organization.
4 Years experience for MSc and 6 years for BSc on relevant project/program experience of WASH in an international NGO or similar organization, preferably emergency WASH operations
Educational background: Civil Engineering, Hydraulic, Water supply, Environmental Engineering, and related
Excellent English communication skills, Basic computer software applications including Water cads, AutoCADs, etc
