Position Title:         Project Officer- Safeguarding Investigator

Job Summary:

As a member of protection and safeguarding unit, you will conduct investigations on reported allegations as per CRS safeguarding policy in an efficient and effective manner. You will contribute to the ongoing development of the organization’s capacity to investigate and manage such incidents appropriately. The role will focus mainly on alleged violations of the safeguarding policy (sexual exploitation and abuse, harassment, sexual misconduct, bullying, trafficking, etc.) involving staff, program participants and other stakeholders.

 Job Responsibilities:

• Conduct preliminary data gathering related to complaints received as per guidance received from supervisor.
• Conduct investigations into safeguarding allegations in a manner that considers the safety and security of all involved.
• Identify, collect, and review documentary evidence needed for investigations.
• Develop tools for investigation in advance by working closely with the Ethics unit and safeguarding allegation management advisors.
• Conduct interviews with survivors, and subject of allegations, both in person and remotely, in a survivor-sensitive manner.
• Prepare detailed written investigation reports with recommendations as per CRS investigation procedure.
• Identify and strengthen referral linkages with service providers (medical, legal, psychosocial, etc) to ensure survivors received appropriate supports.
• Apply and promote a strong survivor centered approach to investigations.
• Maintain an accurate record of investigation details and outcomes by ensuring confidentiality.
• Provide training in relation to investigations and safeguarding for CRS staff and partners as may be appropriate.
• Identify and track data on investigations over time to inform learning and make improvements on CRS program/ operational activities.
• Provide any support for the unit as may be requested by the supervisor.      

Job Requirements

Typical Background, Experience & Requirements:

• BA degree in, protection, human rights, gender, Law, or related Social Sciences
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience for BA degree
• Proven experience in safeguarding, protection, gender, or law
• Fluency in English and the local language
• Able to work on a high level with Word, Power Point, and Excel
• A previous experience in an international NGOs and/or institution is a strong advantage

• Observation, active listening, and analysis skills with ability to make sound judgment
• Good relationship management skills and the ability to work closely with community members and partners

 Required Language: English, Amharic and Afaan Oromo

 Travel Required: 50%
