Job Description

Roving Senior Electromechanical officer will be responsible for overall Electro-mechanical works in the country wash program, including installation and repair of water supply system electromechanical parts & ensuring proper operation & scheduled maintenance of the water supply system including generators, surface pumps, electric systems, and switchboards installed toward the supply of safe and adequate water to the refugee camps and host communities. The incumbent is involved in planning, management, and monitoring of the water supply electromechanical equipment, and capacity building of the filed-based electromechanical WASH team and reports to the WASH Program Manager. She/He is responsible for the management of electromechanical equipment including servicing the equipment on a scheduled based, identifying necessary spares and ensuring their availability, and tracking the fuel management. The incumbent will support 75% of the time the field offices in the country. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide strong leadership for the WASH Program of Electromechanical works, to ensure both short/long-term positive impacts and outcomes for the beneficiaries, local authorities (where applicable), and Filed based Electrotechnical staff.
  • Oversee the implementation of the WASH Program of Electromechanical works, and ensure the program is implemented according to schedule, budgets, and international standards
  • Serve as a main technical focal point for activities related to electromechanical works (pumps, generators, control systems, etc---) of water supply systems of wash projects will implementing in refugees and the host community.
  •  Identify gaps & plan for onsite training to build the capacity of the Electromechanical teams in consultation with the WASH Program Manager.
  • Ensures that all generators, pumps, and fittings at the borehole, boosting stations, and distribution systems, have enough back up easily moving parts.
  • Prepare detailed specifications including item description, part #, and quantity of spare parts necessary to fix identified problems on electro-mechanical parts (pumps, generator set, control panels, etc.) of water supply schemes.
  •  Identify & ensure the procurement of tools and equipment required for the operation & maintenance of the water supply systems including generators, pumps, and control panels for pumps.
  •  Prepare & put in place a monitoring plan for the operation & servicing of the generators and pumps.
  •  Establish a monitoring system to Keep records of fuel consumption, generator working hours, and electromechanical equipment performance indicators during the operation and maintenance phase and report to the WASH Program Manager and copy the WASH officer.
  •  Organize and deliver scheduled training on the operation and maintenance of electro-mechanical parts to the WASH team and operators
  •  Provide the necessary technical support to field-based technicians in the operation and maintenance of their water supply schemes.
  •  Visit the generators and pump on daily bases and provide guidance and advice for the operators and maintenance team
  •  Prepare, weekly and monthly progress reports and keep the supervisor informed of the maintenance and/or installation of electro-mechanical parts.

Job Requirements

  • Degree Or Diploma in Water supply Electromechanical engineering, Electricity or Mechanical engineering or Auto mechanics or related practical experience in maintenance of generators, surface pumps, submersible pumps, Solar pumps, and control boards
  • Minimum of Five years’ experience for Diploma holders and three years for Degree holders in a humanitarian setting (refugee camps, rural development, or emergency response)
  • Competent in using Windows, word, and excel
  • Ability to work under pressure in a potentially unstable security environment.
  • Flexible, willing to travel and live temporarily in harsh environment
