The community coordinator will lead all community-focused activities in the project. He/she will work with local government, partner NGOs, stakeholders at the industrial parks (i.e. Adama, Bahirdar and Kombolecha) and different community groups and other relevant stakeholders.

Role and responsibilites

  • Coordinate the community capacity enhancement through community conversation (CCE-CC) initiatives of the project
  • Coordinate the establishment of community based Welcome Centre
  • Lead Collaboration with MasterCard BRIDGES program
  • Lead the provision of grants to market responsiveness businesses and Services 
  • Provide/Facilitate business Acumen and Entrepreneurship Skill Building Training for grantees
  • Lead the establishment and functionality of business Community Support mechanisms
  • Manage the implementation of relevant service development and improvements in partnership with clients, the community, funding bodies and staff at a community level and Industrial park staff.
  • Manage the implementation of quality and risk management plans and systems.
  • Establish sound working relations with key stakeholders (government and non-government) working in the WWA operational area/s
  • Follow up and lead Gender & youth related WWA activities
  • Maintain effective monitoring systems to identify changes in needs and report on emerging gaps within current project.
  • Cascade an outreach Campaign to local communities to create community-buy and ownership of the project.
  • Establish implementation plan using Plan International’s Structural Quality Dimensions Checking
  • Ensure all project level project documentation is filed and organised for accountability purposes
  • Ensure project learning and achievements are documented and disseminated widely in the region
  • Manage and monitor partnerships with local government authorities and like-minded organizations.
  • Ensure adequate stakeholder consultation and participation at all stages of the project activities implementation
  • Prepares periodic reports and timely submits to the respective technical coordinator
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor

Accountabilities

  • Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Child Protection (CPP) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI) are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.

Key Relationships

The community Coordinator works very closely with the USAID Worker Wellness Alliance team under the supervision of the Field office Coordinator. He/she works and collaborate with plan international Ethiopia programme areas team and other plan international teams as required. He/she acts as the key contact staff of the WWA project for all stakeholders and HIP female workers.

COMMUNICATION AND WORKING RELATIONSHIP:

To maximize overall program impact through the optimized contributions of others, the post holder will be required to initiate, develop and maintain a range of working relationships, including with government counterparts and other development organizations with the town.

Effective working relationships within the program unit are also essential. The job holder will have frequent communication with, Plan staff and various internal staff networks.  

Job Requirements

Essential

  • Master or Bachelor degree in Sociology, Anthropology, Community development, Development Management, Social work or another related field
  • Minimum 5 years for BA & 3 years for MA holders with relevant field experience in implementation of community development related interventions/programs
  • Experience with USAID funded or institutional donor funding preferred
  • Ability to demonstrate integrity, responsibility, respect and innovation in all aspects of the position.
  • Able to supervise and delegate duties to staff and volunteers.
  • Ability to identify health and Safety issues pertaining to the work environment.
  • Ability to ensure confidentially, professionalism and discretion is maintained
  • Strong conceptual, verbal, and written communication skills; both in English & Amharic
  • Ability to initiate and organize work while establishing priorities in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment to meet deadlines with attention to detail;
  • Ability to develop strong trusting relationships and sound partnerships with local government and Non-Government actors in the sector in order to gain support and achieve results;
  • Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities;
  • Ability to be flexible and interpersonal skills to interact with employees at all level
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook 

Desirable

  • Experience in Gender & youth programming is a plus
  • Ability to deliver to tight deadlines
  • Able to work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to establish and maintain internal and external relationship
  • Strong negotiating skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
