Job Description

Main Responsibilities:

Manages the day to day activities of association, ensuring the successful operation of all business units of the association

Description of Duties:

  • Supervises association operations and staff reporting to him/her. Operations include, but are not limited to, Commissary shop, Elevation apartment shop, food services, campground, gym, swimming pool tennis courts & Residential Internet.
  • Manages human resource needs including personnel files, job descriptions, and scheduling
  • Manages staff according to AMCOM Employee Manual and Ethiopian Labor Law
  • Ensures delivery of American standard customer service by staff
  • Operates association activities according to AMCOM Bylaws and U.S. State Department Office of Commissary and Recreation Affairs guidelines.
  • Completing tasks assigned by the general manager accurately and efficiently.
  • Covering the General Manager position when times of absence. Make executive decisions and provide accountability.
  • Provides monthly reports on association operations to the General Manager
  • Implements Board of Directors’ policies in coordination with the General Manager.
  • Manages conflicts and resolves complaints, Taking disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Works to maintain healthy financial condition of the association and profitability of all association activities by monitoring income and expenses
  • Ensures timely orders of goods sold to maintain adequate inventory of items
  • Manages inventory control systems and supervises receiving of items.
  • Working closely with the store supervisor to lead staff.
  • Coordinates with Shipping Section and Ethiopian Government Offices to facilitate customs clearance of duty free imports
  • Develops strategies for improving services in consultation with the General Manager
  • Assists in annual auditing, budgeting and planning.
  • Perform all liaison tasks with local clearing agent s & insurance companies.
  • Hold and manage commissary and recreation center members files and charge membership fees accordingly
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Proven knowledge of basic accounting and business management. 2-4 years experience in an administrative, customer service or management position in the retail, hospitality or tourism sector is desired.
  • Degree in Accounting, Management, Tourism, Hospitality or related field.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office. Experience with QuickBooks Financial and POS software is preferred.
  • Must possess excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively and respectfully with local staff, board members and association members.
  • Spoken and written fluency in English and Amharic. English fluency will be tested.
  • Ability to create and present ideas, reports, and budgets in various formats.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to assign and delegate tasks.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
