Position:  WASH Assistant/Plumber

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Safeguarding all properties from thievery, burglary, and potential or imminent danger that threaten safety and security management of IMC.
  • Inspection entire pressure pipeline and distribution system in Aw-bere / Sheder water supply system and perform maintenance on time for pipeline leakage observed during inspection.
  • Ensures that all fast moving fittings and valves at pressure pipeline, distribution systems, tap stands, water storage tanks have enough back up.
  • Identify & provide detail pipes, fittings and valves required for maintenance of the pipeline networks and tap stands and provide the list to Assistant water technician officers to facilitate quarter procurement of the materials
  • Serve as technical focal person for activities related to plumbing and welding activity, pipe line network installation and managing day to day water system operation, and leakage maintenance at each points of the system to ensure supplying of required quantity of safe water to the refugee, IPs and Local community.
  • Ensure the daily preparation of chlorine stock solution with the demanded concentration at water treatment plant.
  • Ensure regular cleaning clear water reservoirs
  • Organize the laboratory with proper arrangement of apparatus and reagents
  • Ensure the cleaning of the analysis room, apparatuses and materials.
  • Water Quality Operator in annual & monthly plan of the water quality activities
  • Recognize the available & the required apparatuses, reagents and chemicals timely.
  • Other activities ordered by his supervisor.
  • Report all the water quality activities to the WASH officer on weekly base
  • Prepare WASH reporting card (WRC) on monthly base in collaboration with the WASH
  • Ensure safe and adequate quantity of water supplied to the refugee camps, and host communities
  • Support the Senior Electromechanical  officer during installation of delivery and suction hoses of surface pumps at the intake and water treatment plant.
  • Serve as technical support for activities related to troubleshooting, operation and maintenance of electro-mechanical parts of surface & submersible pumps, generators, control systems, and de-watering pumps of water supply systems
  • Keep records of spare, and fittings consumption during the operation and maintenance of the water systems
  • Perform the assignments to assist the operation and maintenance team during maintenance of the pump and generators in the water supply system.
  • Prepare weekly performance reports to the WASH Engineer.
  • Regularly receive radio and telephone calls (including the night times) while the water operation problem happened and share the information for the operation team, WASH Engineer, and SEMO &EMT
  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor to enable and develop IMC programs which Perform related tasks as assigned by WASH Engineer, SEMT & Field program Coordinator/Manager
  • Ensure safe and adequate quantity of water supplied to the refugee camps, and host communities 

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: 

  • TVET certificate in plumbing or Electromechanical or  Auto Mechanic or related field  and three  years of relevant experience 
  • TEVET Diploma in plumbing or Electromechanical or Auto Mechanic or related field and two years of relevant experience 
  • NGO experience is a plus. 
  • Basic computer knowledge (word and excel) 
  • Good in communication and interpersonal relation  
  • Self-motivated, honest, responsible, and punctual. 
  • Ability to work under pressure in a potentially unstable security situation 
  • Obey all IMC rules, regulation and committed to serve the refugee and host communities
