Job Description

To provide brewing, packaging, utilities, warehouse and all other departments we serve with accurate and precise analytical, microbiological and sensory results, ensuring quality and assurance in all services that is given from Laboratory that can help in compliance of the brewery to the quality and food safety requirements of the country and Heineken.

Key Responsibilities

Sampling and Analysis

  • Ensure that the Quality Support analysis frequencies for raw materials, process operations, and finished product are completed timely and that the data is inputted into the quality system in Qualass to help the right decision making.
  • Operate, calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment in an accurate and safe way as per the calibration and maintenance plan.
  • Report deviations on time to take corrective actions.
  • Check reliability of reported results and act in case results appear to be incorrect
  • Report on safety and quality aspects by various reporting systems and the DCS
  • Organize and maintain the workplace according to the 5S standards
  • Involvement in TPM procedures, including participation in teams and/or pillars and use of problem solving tools
  • Ensure implementation and adherence to LSS (Laboratory Star System) requirements within the own work 

Product Release

  • Analyze daily the Finished Product analysis to ensure product quality and to highlight any
  • Analoalies at the DCS meeting held daily
  • Give support in the analysis of bright beer and wort carried out by the brewing and packaging operators to minimize product rejections as a result of out of specification product
  • Quarantine any finished product that does not comply with specifications for decision by
  • management, ensuring all product sent to trade meets Heineken and customer requirements
  • Release Finished Product in a timely and accurate manner, once authorized at the correct levels, to all the relevant departments

Sensory Quality Control

  • Participate in the Sensory Evaluation training in accordance with Heineken requirements to ensure that a Sensory Panel is trained to evaluate off flavors in our products. This will allow us to identify process anomalies ensuring better product quality.
  •  Participate in the Heineken Sensory Ring Analysis which is an aid to calibrating our Sensory Panel every 2 months.
  •  Ensure that all process aids, in process samples, BBTs and finished products are sensorial analyzed as per the sampling plan.

Quality Analyst working as Microbiologist

  • Responsible for microbiological sampling, sample registration, analysis and reporting.
  • Assures the materials used for microbiological analysis are stored and controlled correctly and properly in order to have reliable results.
  • Ensures the environment of the microbiological laboratory are controlled and maintained.
  • Endures all microbiological samples are carried out correctly, reliably and the respective information is recorded sufficiently.
  • Maintain & Calibrate micro control used equipment’s according to plan.
  • Timely response and recommend action to be taken for out of control results.
  • Responsible to manage microbiological analysis in the brewery in all lines (Keg line and 4 packaging lines in packaging and all FSTs, BBTs and brew house equipment)
  • Ensure all non-conforming product are quarantined until further action and management decision
  • Timely escalation of nonconformance in the shift to the responsible person as per the escalation procedure.
  • Participate in Heineken Microbiological Ring Analysis that help us in calibrating the micro lab.

Quality Analyst working as Physicochemical Analyst

  • Responsible for sampling, registration, physical and chemical analysis and reporting
  • Assures materials, chemicals, reagents used for analysis are stored and controlled correctly and properly
  • Assures that all analysis is carried out correctly, reliability and the respective information is recorded accurately
  • Maintain & Calibrate process control used equipment’s according to plan
  • Responsible for maintaining, calibrating, validating and/or verifying laboratory equipment
  • Assures instruments / equipment’s' performance according to the set standards. He/she is accessible to instruments/equipment (passwords, software) whenever there is adjustment, parameters setting and/or repair.
  •  Responsible for LSS random check and ensuring corrective actions are being handled.
  • Adhere to Shewart (First line control) and ARMS procedure are properly carried out
  • Perform Entrance control of all raw , Auxiliary and packaging Materials upon delivery
  • Communicate result to the responsible person
  • Escalate any nonstandard conditions as per the escalation procedure
  • Participate in organizing sensory training
  • Participate in Heineken Analytical Ring Analysis that help us in calibrating the physico-chemical lab.

LSS Roles

  • Conduct Routine physico chemical, Microbiological and Sensory analysis as per LSS requirement.
  • Periodic maintenance and calibration of assigned Lab equipment in line with LSS requirements.
  • Attending to tasks generated from ARMS for effective equipment control, calibration and maintenance.
  • Ensuring compliance to LSS methods and standards.
  • Ensuring compliance to LSS requirements as it affects Routine Sensory analyses.
  • Maintaining the Sample Service Centre and keeping it up to LSS standard.
  • Ensuring sample registration at the Sample Service Centre.
  • Ensuring execution and documentation of Routine Micro biological analyses and results.
  •  Write down on Logbook maintenance and calibration activities of an equipment.
  • Participation in periodic LSS internal audits in the lab

Job Requirements

Education

  • BSC in Chemistry, Microbiology, or similar
  • Previous laboratory working experience preferred
  • Willingness to learn and work in both micro and Physicochemical positions

Experience

  • 2-4 years
  • Innovative, detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple, high-priority assignments, Strong interpersonal skills at various levels, Strong analytical skills
  • Very strong in MS Excel
