Context:
Under the overall guidance of the Director General and direct supervision of the Regional Director (RD), East and Horn of Africa (EHoA), the successful candidate will be IOM's interlocutor with the Government and relevant ministries, UN system, and local and international NGOs. The Chief of Mission will be responsible for maintaining IOM relations and for promoting IOM’s full range of activities with the Government, diplomatic representatives and other organizations at Ethiopia as well as for keeping the RD EHoA and Headquarters (HQ) Units informed of relevant governmental concerns and programmatic developments. The Chief of Mission will be responsible and accountable for developing and promoting IOM's strategy and programming within the overall Regional Framework. The Chief of Mission will also mainstream the migratory approach in all the programmatic areas of the Ethiopia Country Office (CO).***Core Functions / Responsibilities:***
Development and follow up of strategies, policies and programmes.
\Promote and strengthen relationships and identify opportunities for IOM activities in response to changing issues and situations.

Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment, accreditation, any residency or visa requirements, and security clearances. Subject to certain
exemptions, vaccination against COVID-19 will in principle be required for individuals hired on or after 15 November 2021. This will be verified as part of the medical clearance process.
