Job Description
CARE is seeking a Livelihoods and Resilience Program Manager (LRPM) who will provide technical leadership to CARE’s interventions in livelihoods and resilience sectors in the Highland Resilience Activity (HRA) in Ethiopia. The LRPM will lead the project’s livelihoods team and guide the implementation of the off-farm, nutrition, climate change and adaptation, youth employment and gender and social transformation pathways. S/he will lead and mentor a team of advisors working for CARE and work closely with technical partners Restless Development and other consortia partners. The LRPM will work with partners to develop implementation plans, identify and resolve challenges, and promote ongoing learning and quality improvements throughout the remainder of the project. The LRPM will support and promote a livelihoods response through the establishment of sector strategies, technical guidelines, and response mechanisms in collaboration with the other Sector Managers to guide CARE Ethiopia’s HRA programming.
The LRPM is expected to facilitate the development of quality, gender-sensitive, accountable, and impact-focused interventions on livelihoods and resilience in Ethiopia. This includes the provision of technical advice, capacity strengthening of staff and partners, as well as influencing policy and practice through research, analysis, and advocacy, and building resilience by linking to other long term programming in Ethiopia. The position will be based in Addis Ababa and report directly to the Chief of Party (CoP).
