Job Description

As an International Christian Humanitarian Development organization, World Vision Ethiopia (WVE) is trusted to deliver integrated programs with target communities through its 51 Area programs (APs) located in seven regional states of the country. WVE envisions a thriving organization where our strong leadership at all levels results in improved delivery of results for children.

Major duties:-

  • Assis the project officer in situational assessments, operational planning, implementation and monitoring of the IDP activities. 
  • Provide individual and group psychological first aid/ psychosocial support to children and women affected by the conflict to enable them restore their safety, dignity and hope.
  • Facilitate consultations and discussions with beneficiary populations, making sure they are involved in needs assessment delivery of protection/assistance and development/implementation of durable solutions.
  • Closely work with local authorities and relevant government sector( Women and children affairs, education, social affairs, schools etc.) to facilitate recovery and reiteration of the affected population.
  • Facilitate school enrollment for boys and girls and closely work with parents, community leaders, civil society organizations and other actors to ensure safety of children on the way to and from schools.
  • Ensure application of standards, guidelines and good practices for child protection and GBV in emergency related activities.
  • Coordinate and manage the establishment of child friendly spaces in collaboration with school, local authorities, and faith leaders.  

Job Requirements

  • BA Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Education and other relevant fields.
  • Technical Training qualifications required: Professional technical skill associated with WASH related training, experience is desired
  • Experience: At least 1-year relevant experience in Child Protection and related areas, program/project development and management in emergency context is required.
  • Direct case management and experience working with children and adolescents is an asset.
  • Extensive training in the fields of CP/GBV, pyscho-Social wellbeing, case management and application of international technical guidelines and standards in Child Protection and GBV.
  • Knowledge, skills of, and ability to implement integrated CP responses, including GBV.
  • Awareness of or interest in community based protection mechanisms.
