Job Description

Duration: for 6 months

Purpose; 

The successful candidate will be expected to Actively participate in the development and emergency response programs in delivery of a high-quality outcome at its center a commitment to ensure that girls, boys, women, men, people with disability and people from minority groups benefit equally from the implemented project efforts and will work within objective teams to ensure that gender and inclusion aspects are mainstreamed across the project activity processes. He/she will assist the project team in reviewing documents and providing inputs so that the outcome is gender transformative and inclusive. She will be responsible of monitoring and follow up of mothers and father dialogues sessions accordingly. 

Main Duties & Responsibilities;

  • Channel any support required to perform his/her assignment to the relevant department through his/her supervisor.
  • Diligently follow the training and endeavor to complete the mission successfully
  • Follow the rules and regulations, policies, the mission and objective of the organization
  • Work with other team members and the employees at the workplace.
  • With the assistance of the senior gender officer, provide reports with inputs on gender activity progress on monthly base. _
  • with the assistance of the senior gender officer ,Conduct regular field visits to ensure all staff are familiar with gender equality tools and approaches 
  • Follow up MtMSG and FtFSG sessions in Somali, Amhara and Gambella region and make sure Pre/ post is conducted before and after the Gender manual is started. Prepare an analysis of the findings from the pre /posttest. 

Emergency Response

Concern is committed to responding to emergencies efficiently and effectively in order to help affected people meet their basic needs, alleviate suffering and maintain their dignity. To this end, when emergencies strike and the Ethiopia Program is to respond, all staff are required to actively participate in the response, regardless of location and contribute to the efforts aimed at achieving the humanitarian objective of the organization.

Accountability 

In line with Concern’s commitments under the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS): 

  • Actively promote meaningful community participation and consultation at all stages of the project cycle (planning, implementation, M&E); 
  • Work with relevant colleagues  to ensure that the Complaints and Response Mechanism (CRM) is functional and accessible, that feedback and complaints are welcomed and addressed; 
  • Work with relevant colleagues to ensure that information about CRM, safeguarding and expected staff behavior disseminated among program participants and communities. 

Gender Equality

  • Demonstrate an understanding of Concern Ethiopia’s Gender Equality Strategy
  • Contribute to ensuring that Concern Ethiopia is a place where men and women are treated equally and with dignity and respect
  • Demonstrate gender equality awareness and gender sensitivity and an ability to integrate a gender equality perspective into tasks and activities.

Job Requirements

Person specification;

  • Desired Education qualification or Background
  • A Bachelor Degree in Gender Studies, Sociology, Social Work or related fields of social sciences.

Desired Technical Skills

  • Proficient English both written and verbal
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, especially oral communication
  • Dynamic and energetic
  • Good understanding of gender mainstreaming and GBV concepts
  • Ms. Office Proficient

Desired Competencies:

  • Experience and skills in delivering trainings on gender equality.
  • Facilitation skills
  • Proficient communication and interpersonal skills, especially oral communication
  • Dynamic and energetic
  • Technical understanding of gender mainstreaming and GBV concept
  • Willing to travel to hardship areas
  • willing to travel regularly 

Language Skills

  • Language – high level of written and spoken English. Good knowledge of local customs and language
