Job Description

Position Summary

The Gilgal program coordinator plays a key role in coordinating Gilagl-SHG-CCT Projects under EKHCDC Livelihood and Resilience Development Department. He / She will be responsible for developing relevant and effective programming and ensuring quality implementation in the areas of SHG promotion, Enterprise Development including value chain and marketing using Church and Community Transformation (CCT) based resource mobilization methods as well as contributing to the overall development and quality of the SHG projects throughout different regions, Zones and Districts of Ethiopia.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Provide advanced operational support to SHG and agricultural enterprise projects and project management teams at each site.
  • Develop and maintain project management schedules, project work plans, and other general project management resources.
  • Support and monitor grants management and compliance handling.
  • Perform budget formulation, monitoring and reporting support.
  • Support performance monitoring and reporting.
  • Provide general project management reporting to project management teams.
  • Liaise and coordinate support services from business partners as appropriate.
  • Liaise with technical specialists in coordination of technical development and support to projects.
  • Monitor and lead correction process to ensure project documentation, deliverables and data are maintained consistently in accordance with policies and standards.
  • Take lead responsibilities on specific project phases to include Project Start Up, Close Out, managing sub-contractors, etc.
  • May engage with Project Leadership in the definition and execution of project activities and development of plans and schedules.
  • Collaborate with Project Management team to identify and manage risks.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to projects as defined by the Livelihood and Resilience Development Department Head.
  • Coordinate review meeting preparations, logistics and Communications with Participants and staff
  •  Design and Perform value chain and marketing development based economic and social business plans
  • Conduct need assessment prepare concept papers and write proposals
  • Perform business and proposal development needs of the assigned program as directed.
  • Perform other Program and project duties as assigned.

Reports to: SHG Promotion and Enterprise Development Unit Head

Job requirements

  • Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics and Rural Development studies, Agricultural studies, from recognized university with a minimum of 4 years of relevant working experience supporting donor-funded programming (or Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of relevant work experience).
  • Knowledge of agriculture, Enterprise development, and/or nutrition preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge in project proposal writing, project management including operational and administrational backstopping.
  • Prior experience in SHG projects required.
  • Proven ability to manage and support complex and geographically disparate portfolios.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly (verbal and written).
  • Advanced knowledge and skill with MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
