General Responsibilities
To take responsibility for the overall designs, initiatives and implementation of the Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) project interventions within the Jijiga operation, while also providing thought leadership and practical support to WASH elsewhere within the NRC Ethiopia Mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the strategic planning and drafting proposals of WASH activities within NRC Jigjiga Operation, including the community approaches and the budgets associated with them
- Participate in planning for project implementation including technical activity, financial and procurement planning
- Take charge of the field interpretation and adaptation of NRC’s WASH project strategy
- Participate in development and design of new WASH projects in Jigjiga refugee operation
- Supervise and coordinate WASH activities under NRC in all Jigjiga Area field offices
- Ensure that all project activities are in accordance with budgetary constraints and being implemented on schedule
- Participate in tendering and bid analysis for contracts for service delivery and materials
- Participate in Area WASH outputs delivery quality assurance and reports validation
- Ensure documentation of project progress is ongoing and integrate sound M&E procedures in all aspects of each WASH project in the Area
- Prepare periodic reports on the WASH project activities, including documentation for final handover and closure of projects in the Area
- Represent NRC at relevant Refugee camps/Area theme cluster and other coordination meetings
- Develop any required rapid response and contingency plans related to WASH
- Take actions for capacity building and technical support to all WASH supervised staff in in Jigjiga
- Assign duties, supervise, train and appraise the assigned WASH Officers in the Area
- As requested, assist the Project Manager on other WASH Project tasks.
Job Requirements
Academic and Professional Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Water resource or any other relevant discipline
- National Certificate inn Project Management training.
Relevant Experience
- Minimum of 6 years’ of relevant experience, at least 2 in Humanitarian or urban informal settlement contexts.
