We are pleased to announce the following vacancy for Billing Assurance Specialist in within the Legal and Risk Function in Ethiopia. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below. 

Detailed Description 

Reporting to the EHOD - Business Assurance, the position holder’s role shall be to provide assurance to the business on billing and revenue and cost reporting for all STEP service revenues. This will be done through end to end (Switch to billing) assurance of all service revenues to ensure all leakages are detected within SLA and mitigated in line with revenue assurance policies.

 Job Responsibilities 


  • Proactively identify and report on all areas that are susceptible to Revenue leakage under all service revenue streams
  • Recommend policies and procedures to help identify revenue leakage in all service revenue areas and reduce incidences of revenue loss within the organization.
  • Implement and monitor Billing Assurance controls in the revenue assurance system
  • Ensure that all rating and billing systems are accurately set up and are aligned with the approved business rules to ensure minimal revenue loss.
  • Ensure network configuration audits of the key GSM revenue generating elements (MSC, SMSC, USSD & SMPP gateways, NGN switches etc.) are performed with a view of detecting configurations that may lead to revenue leakages
  • Perform end to end reconciliation for all revenue streams in liaison with the Billing team and the data clearing house where applicable
  • Ascertain that all Roaming related products and services are accurately billed and reported.
  • Daily monitoring of Interconnect traffic and reconciliation of the same in the RA system to source systems and timely error management reviews
  • Develop appropriate procedures that will ensure that the organization pays correct and optimal amounts to interconnection partners
  • Perform proactive Revenue Assurance on all products sold through the retail distribution channel. Daily tracking and monitoring of the billing process
  • Review completeness and accuracy of information in the management information systems, business intelligence systems and the financial statements
  • Monitoring of the interface between the Retail Management System (RMS) to the Financial Reporting system (ERP)
  • Payment integrity checks
  • Support the Finance division in achieving complete and accurate daily revenue reconciliation between data warehouse, ERP and RA system.
  • Champion deferred revenue reconciliations analysis and support the balance in the account with the source system (UVC) data

Job Requirements

  • A graduate with a degree in Economics, Commerce, Engineering or IT.
  • Professional certification in Auditing, Accounting, Risk Management or Information Systems will be added advantage
  • Relevant post-graduate education is an added advantage
  • Have at least 5-7 years’ experience in Assurance, Risk Management and/or Management of Business Process Improvement
  • Capability to accumulate, summarize and interpret risk reports from business units, support units and assurance units
  • Have strong business acumen and highly developed commercial experience
  • Ability to analyze significant amounts of data and information and distill it to the key points that help Senior Management analyze risk in a given situation.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
