Job Description

 Purpose of the position:

Lead in the creation, leveraging, and management of high-quality digital and web resources, applications and platforms, for external audiences. Act as the senior digital and website guru, with the ability to mentor and train junior staff. The Communications & Marketing Department requires effective, accessible, up-to-date communications resources. Reporting to the Public Engagement Manager, ensure our audiences engage in our mission, increasing coverage of the issues World Vision cares about. Ccreate new opportunities for the public to engage with World Vision with timely and strategic communications content that grows World Vision's social community, building visibility and reputation, positioning World Vision as a trusted partner.

Major Responsibilities:

  • As senior digital and website guru, manage the creation, leveraging, and integration of high-quality digital and website applications, resources, platforms, and projects that builds World Vision brand awareness and increases trust
  • Develop a digital and web strategy that leverages and integrates appropriate platforms, positioning World Vision positively with target audiences
  • Grow World Vision’s brand, reputation, and relationships with local and international audiences, by creating and leveraging engaging content and online experiences for people to interact with World Vision
  • Ensure World Vision’s global brand is aligned and brought to life across all digital and website implementations
  • Proactive management of digital and web platforms leads to growing online presence locally and internationally
  • Ensure quality stories and messages are being deployed regularly and in sync with social and traditional media messaging - building world vision’s brand trust and awareness.
  • Build and code high quality digital applications and website content and infrastructure for local and international audiences website management, mobile and other online application development
  • API and gateway development with third party providers for payment and engagement purposes
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on digital and website metrics ensuring data-based decisions lead to increase effectiveness of digital and web engagement
  • Manage Content Flow, Story Hub, and other content management systems
  • Ensure the secure and catalogued management of all Communications design digital assets
  • •Ensure effective communications job flow and project management with Public Engagement, Marketing and national level Advocacy campaigns - ensuring calendars, timetables, schedules, and itineraries are kept
  • Ensure the Integrated Communications Coordinators in Field, Technical Programs, Grants, and Emergencies (HEA) receive on-going support, capacity building, instruction and guidance regarding digital and website resources

 Job Requirements

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

Required Professional Experience:

  • 5-years experience creating high-quality digital and website applications, platforms, and resources in international humanitarian and development sector, corporate and business communications, or creative sector
  • Demonstrated experience working with external production partner relationships, such as agencies or production companies
  • Advanced technical skills in several of the major areas of the job, such as; social media platform management, data analytics, copy editing, creative story writing, journalism, including advanced skills in creative applications such as Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Proven experience of training and capacity building of others
  • Advanced level of computer proficiency, Mac and PC
  • Experience working with children and youth

 Required Education training, license, registration, and certification

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Media, Journalism, Arts or similar
  • Professional certifications in any of the technical areas of communications or marketing

 Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge of the marketing, communication, and media industry
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Thorough knowledge of international development, World Vision development practice, and marketing and communications needs 

Travel and/or Work Environment

  • Working primarily in the head office in Addis Ababa, semi-regular travel locally and internationally will be required
  • Travel by road, flexibility with accommodation and dietary arrangements. Ability to partake in on-location production or live events.
