Job Description

Purpose of the position:

To design and development of Marketing products. Duties of this position include improving existing product designs and analyzing working concepts of fundraising products in humanitarian industry to match quality and performance. A Product Designer develops and designs a wide variety of World Vision marketing products. The jobholder is expected to build designs for new marketing products, adding improvements to existing products and conducting market research for new product design ideas. The jobholder will be accountable for types and qualities of Marketing product and design World Vision Ethiopia’s for high-quality and sustainable local fund raising.

Major Responsibilities:

Marketing product development and design

  • Work on the development of a national marketing product design plan as a part of the overall Marketing strategy and annual plan.
  • Create design concepts and drawings to determine the best Marketing product
  • Suggest improvements to design and performance to Marketing team.
  • Research and develop potential improvement of product as well as new marketing product for local fundraising.
  • Design marketing system and tools with creative service team and other CRM and technology expert
  • Build and outline specifications for products for key stakeholders and marketing operation team members for brainstorming and review.
  • Analysis and assess customer feedback on operationalized products the marketability of all local fundraising products outcomes to determine effectiveness for future projects.

Operationalize marketing product

  • Employ design concepts into functional prototypes through piloting process.
  • Perform research on launched product technologies and structures to improve the marketing process of the organization.
  • Maintain up to date on current industry trends and market conditions
  • Coordinate with other marketing experts to ensure accurate communication and efficiency in the operation process.
  • Modify and revise existing designs to meet donors expectations
  • Engage and lead on event and campaign set up design for different fundraising purpose.
  • Develop product communication message and materials for marketing operations.

Marketing operation integration

  • Ensure the Integrated marketing operation business with Communications Coordinators in Field, Technical Programs, Grants, and Emergencies (HEA) receive on-going support, capacity building, instruction and guidance from the Marketing Operations Unit.
  • Promote the National Resource Development initiative to maximize the engagement of all teams.
  • Works with Public Engagement Unit to promote fundraising events using well designed flyers, advertisements and digital marketing outreach.
  • Work on evidence building to show the contribution of local donors for organizational child wellbeing objectives.
  • Develop quality design updates to Customer relation management and annual update 

Job Requirements

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

Required Professional Experience:

  • 5 years of experience as a product designer in deferent profit and non-profit making international organizations with computer-aided (CAD) tools.
  • Demonstrated experience working with external production partner relationships, such as agencies or production companies
  • Advanced technical skills in several of the major areas of the job, such as; graphic design and publication management including advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Aftereffects, Animate, Dreamweaver, Acrobat, etc)
  • Creativity with 3D modelling software as well as experience with design programs such as Illustrator and Sketch
  • Excellent eye for aesthetic design and customer appeal
  • Good understanding of color science and combinations
  • Artistic and innovative flair
  • Excellent attention to detail, Meticulous and diligent
  • Advanced level of computer proficiency, Mac and PC
  • Experience working with children and youth

Required Education training, license, registration, and certification

  • Minimum BA Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Media, Journalism, Arts or similar.
  • Professional certifications in any of the technical areas of marketing or business development.

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Thorough knowledge of the marketing, communication, and media industry
  • CRM knowledge, practice and skill
  • Knowledge of the humanitarian industry and market trends
  • Thorough knowledge of international development, World Vision development practice, and marketing and communication needs

Travel and/or Work Environment

Working primarily in the head office in Addis Ababa, 30% local travel will be required.
