Project Mercy Ethiopia is an international non-profit humanitarian organization working in different regions of Ethiopia to improve the well-being and livelihood of people (especially children) in rural communities. We are seeing to hire an experienced, highly motivated and qualified person to fill the position of high school director in our school located at Gurage Zone, Meskanworeda, Yetebonand foster a healthy learning environment for our students.

Principal Duties include:

• Ensure quality of education being delivered.
• Supervise the education staff and oversee day-to-day operations of the high school.
• In coordination with the Education Program, develop and regularly update lesson plan guiding and ensure its implementation.
• Ensure a safe and clean environment for students
• Set learning goals for students and teachers based on national curricula
• Monitor and report on teachers performance regularly
• Implement the Ethiopian Ministry of Education Policy and make changes as may be necessary according to the policy.
• Have a good communication skill and be a role model for other teachers, staffs and students.
• Ensure to register best results at the National School Leaving exams

Job Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills and Personal Attributes:

• Good technical knowledge in the field of education planning and management
• Knowledge of school administrative processes and national educational regulations
• Good written and oral communication skills in both in English and Amharic language
• Ability to work independently
• Analytical skills
• Strong organizational, inter-personal, communication and report writing skill
• Computer literate in word processing and excel

Education:

• Master’s Degree and above in Educational Planning and Management and other teaching related fields from a recognized University

Experience:

• 5+ years’ experience as a school director or in a similar role
