We are pleased to announce the following vacancy for a Developer Digital Channels within the Technology Function in Ethiopia. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.
Detailed Description
Reporting to the EHOD – IT: Billing Assurance, Analytics and Digital, the position holder will oversee planning and development for Safaricom Telecommunications Ethiopia PLC (STEP) mobile applications.
The holder of the position will be expected to collaborate with other development teams in the values value streams to ensure the delivery for the digital channels (APP, WEB, DXL) is in line with the business strategy for the units within STEP.
Job Responsibilities
- To provide technical input and delivery in architecting the digital channels (app & web portal and DXL) in the business by working with the relevant teams in ensuring fit for future architecture and design.
- Work alone and with the team in developing and designing the mobile applications.
- Testing and Quality management: - Ensure unit testing is done and work hand in hand with the quality team to ensure that delivered developments are working optimally as per expected standards. This includes test plan and schedule development.
- Governance and Standardization: - Document and implement digital channels (mobile apps) management development governance and standards. This include code versioning, reference data management guidelines, code review process and other related software related processes.
- Reporting: - Maintain reports on team delivery performance, vendor delivery performance, and development resource schedule cycle time, velocity, throughput and other relevant metrics.
- 2nd and 3rd line Support technical and team leadership: - Lead the support team in the defined domain areas in ensuring all related services and products are operationally optimal. This includes supporting 1st line support when needed, problem resolution and bug fixing for already deployed solutions as per ITIL & ISO guidelines.
- Work with and facilitate Supplier engagement for delivery and 2nd and 3rd line support as need may arise.
- Participate and lead where necessary, in stakeholder engagement with the business to ensure the solutions delivered to meet the expected customer experience.
- Mentor junior team members to ensure optimal performance.
- Research and development: - Take leadership in research and development and guide team in adoption of new technologies to improve efficiency in delivery. E.g. agile delivery, scrum methodologies, CI/CD, and other emerging methodologies.
- Develop, enhance and support the app, web and DXL platforms using appropriate development techniques and tools.
- Ensure code quality through code reviews and development governance methods and standards
Job Requirements
Qualifications
- BSc Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Development or related subject.
- 3 years + experience in software development in a busy IT environment.
- Experience in mobile app development (android and IOS) and designing of web portals and chat-bots.
- Experience in Continuous integration and deployment methodologies using automated tools such as Jenkins.
- Experience in Software Engineering methodologies including Agile, Micro-services architecture.
- Experience in building enterprise grade micro-services-based solutions, automated scaling in and out of services and session management and caching servers.
