We are pleased to announce the following vacancy for a Wholesale (International Roaming and International Connectivity) Manager (Band G) within the External Affairs Function in Ethiopia. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.

Detailed Description

Reporting to the EHOD Wholesale , The role focuses upon the management of wholesale matters and commercial /regulated partnerships – notably international roaming and international connectivity –to enable the company to achieve its commercial strategy and pro-actively mitigate risks for the commercial launch and operations of the company, contributing to Digital Ethiopia objectives of the country. The role will work closely with other functions, including technology, finance, supply chain, legal and external affairs.

Facilitate and coordinate roaming related products as per the project timeline, coordinating with relevant parties.

Lead and negotiate commercial wholesale roaming deals for operators with internal/external partners

Job Responsibilities

Strategy and delivery of wholesale and roaming requirements for commercial launch and operations;

  • Working with other relevant functions: Build, drive and deliver an integrated Wholesale strategy aligned to Company’s mission and vision
  • Lead wholesale commercial and regulated negotiations with wholesale providers required for commercial launch and operations, including not limited: international capacity, and international roaming.
  • Support the strategy development by providing insight from Global markets, about competitors & partners,
  • Drive innovation throughout the Wholesale segment. Continuously analyse the business with a view to bringing about improvements and enhancements
  • Provide clear guidance and practical advice to the business on wholesale business opportunities

Develop Robust framework for Wholesale Infrastructure

  • Carry out a SWOT analysis to identify potential areas of commercial launch new business
  • Track and note various business models being used regionally and internationally to develop and growth wholesale sales
  • Carry out extensive research and market intelligence to identify new opportunities for growth of revenues
  • The framework should include clear decision milestones for review of the wholesale rates and their implications on the business
  • Document a clear roadmap with the necessary SWOT implications built in that will inform the business and drive its wholesale sales strategy

Growing Mobile Data Wholesale Business  

  • Negotiation of commercial and regulated agreement(s required for commercial launch
  • Track and monitor on a daily, monthly and quarterly basis revenue growth against set budgetary targets
  • Develop a well thought out wholesale commercial mode framework that ensures regulatory compliance while optimizing wholesale opportunities for the business.
  • Develop effective business case that clearly justify investment potential for new infrastructure opportunities
  • Monitor and track product pricing both locally and international for similar infrastructure products
  • Minimize revenue leakage due to under-reporting and incomplete recognition of revenue

Manage Key relations & partnerships with Carriers and Roaming partners

  • Prepare and maintain an effective annual calendar that optimize the relationships with various carriers and enhances competition
  • Develop an effective framework for monitoring effective partnerships
  • Explore new partnership opportunities that create opportunities for growth

Attend Key networking events  

  • Identify and plan for all known key events touching on International carrier business
  • Attend at least one key networking event annually
  • Document and implement learnings for the benefit for the business

Purchase & Sale of International Capacity

  • Negotiation of international capacity and roaming agreements needed for commercial launch
  • Manage the implementation of the end to end international links (including cross border connectivity and domestic leased lines).
  • Ensure increased and improved sales from all key capacity assets on an ongoing basis complemented by positive margins
  • Periodic benchmarking and price reviews to ensure growth of key revenue lines and channels.
  • Establish relationships with capacity providers in Africa & abroad based on requirements for product development
  • Ensure industry standard SLAs and economies are contracted upon
  • Leverage relationships for ad-hoc capacity requirements in cases where capacity is not productized
  • Own & manage the relationships to ensure performance towards agreed SLAs 
  • Collaborate with Group Carrier services (GCS) to enable GCS in achieving economies of scale with capacity providers

Commercial Delivery of Wholesale Infrastructure- Mobile data 

  • Negotiation of commercial and regulated agreement(s required for commercial launch
  • Develop a robust & competitive pricing strategy for access to 4G & 5G data factoring in international best practice where applicable.
  • Work with retail pricing teams to ensure full alignment of 4G & 5G wholesale, retail pricing and roaming rates.
  • Ensure that Access framework complements and achieve key regulatory & technical considerations
  • Document and communicate all key process to ensure stakeholder alignment across the organization
  • Ensure SLAs for infrastructure are maintained and monitored proactively
  • Work on an effective redundancy strategy that is cost effective and sustainable.
  • Ensure all revenue targets are hit and positive margins maintained.

Commercial Delivery of Wholesale Infrastructure- Fibre

  • Negotiation of commercial and regulated agreement(s required for commercial launch
  • Develop a robust & competitive pricing strategy for access to Fibre
  • Enhance and develop a complementary access framework for both terrestrial & undersea cables
  • Ensure that access framework complements and achieve key regulatory & technical considerations
  • Develop viable prepositions leading to an optimal mix of owned vs. leased fibre both in and out of country
  • Ensure SLAs for infrastructure are maintained and monitored proactively
  • Ensure all revenue targets are hit and positive margins maintained.
  • Attend all key meetings for Team’s Limited and ensure continued growth and return on investment for purchase and upgrade of undersea cable.

Risk Mitigation

  • Ensure wholesale revenues are safeguarded from revenue loss through mitigation measures 

Job Requirements

Qualifications 

  • A graduate with 8 years Telecoms industry experience, with focus on roaming and international type business.
  • At least 5 years of senior leadership in similar positions, in fast-moving industries
  • 3 (plus) years finance, commercial, technical experience at management level
  • Able to develop strong analytical framework to aid in swift and objective decision making
  • Team management skills
  • Able to take a holistic view of the business
  • Have strong business acumen and highly developed commercial experience
  • Experience in strategic decision making
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • High level experience and skills working with stakeholders
