Children Believe Fund is a child-centered, community-based international development organization devoted to addressing the needs of children, their families and communities by implementing programs that focus on education, early childhood development, health & nutrition, sustainable livelihood development, child protection, disaster risk reduction and gender equality in different parts of Ethiopia. Currently Children Believe Fund wants to hire staff for Field Coordinator position for Growth and Economic Opportunities for Women (GrOW) project- Reducing women’s care burden and improving their economic wellbeing through establishment of community-based childcare centers.

Job Responsibilities:

The Project Field Coordinator is responsible for providing technical and capacity building supports for the overall planning, organizing, directing and management of the project titled “Reducing women’s care burden and improving their economic wellbeing through establishment of community-based childcare centers.” The position is responsible for establishing community based childcare centers and building the capacity of early childhood development facilitators and caregivers for improved child development outcomes, establishing and supporting women Self- Help Groups to improve women’s economic wellbeing.

 Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Undertake project planning in participatory way involving concerned government offices, communities, project staff and other responsible development actors.
  • Develop comprehensive and detailed implementation plans of the project.
  • Effectively organize launching, monitoring and evaluation of the project.
  • Support baseline and end-line project assessment.
  • Adapt Early Childhood Development (ECD) manuals, and translate, design and duplicate and avail the manual for use.
  • Develop Behavioral Change Communication and advocacy packages of early childhood development/child care and women economic empowerment (the materials could be brochures, flyers, flipcharts, billboards, etc.)
  • Coordinate the setting up/establishment and renovation of community based childcare centers
  • Facilitate the procurement and supply of basic indoor play materials and other basic items or supplies for community-based child care centers.
  • Conduct regular coaching and supportive supervision for proper function of community-based child care centers.
  • Identify and organize existing women’s collective agencies (women’s associations/women groups) in the target communities, and conduct consultations with the women’s collective agencies on influencing changes the contributes to women’s economic wellbeing.
  • Conduct training on Self-Help Groups establishment and organization
  • Provide initial inputs/materials and WASH facilities to women Self-Help Groups (SHGs)
  • Facilitate selection Community/ECD facilitators
  • Deliver training for ECD facilitators, caregivers and ECD management committees
  • Conduct Woreda Level Consultations and advocacy meetings with government officials and community stakeholders to mobilize the establishment of community based childcare centers.
  • Undertake awareness-raising and knowledge delivery activities via community conversation
  • Conduct monthly parenting sessions
  • Ensure the sustainability of childcare centers and women’s Income Generating Activities (IGAs).
  • Actively participate in developing sustainability strategy of the intervention
  • Ensure that the project interventions are properly handed over to the communities and concerned government offices.
  • Prepare and timely submit project reports.
  • Comply with Children Believe policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.

Terms of Employment: One year with possible extension

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements /Qualifications, Attributes and Traits:

  • Master Degree or BSc Degree in project management, early childhood development, economics, public health or social development related fields.
  • Minimum of 3-years relevant experience for Master Degree; and minimum of 5-years relevant experience for BSc/BA Degree.
  • Experiences should be in project designing, implementing and coordinating women economic empowerment, child-focused or early childhood development, early learning and health related projects and working at the grass root level.
  • Fluent in English, Amharic and Oromiffa languages.
  • Good training and meeting facilitation skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal communications, relationship-building, team player, conflict management, and negotiation skills, especially when developing / maintaining contacts and influencing partners.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database management software and internet and other computer applications.
  • Be available and willing to conduct regular field visits to each childcare centre and conduct discussions with the project beneficiaries and identify gaps/challenges and solutions to solve challenges.
  • Able to multi-task and on occasion work in high pressure environment with tight deadlines
  • Productive personality traits, patience, sociable, responsible and courage.
