Position: Scaling up CA Project Manager
Duty Station: Asossa (Benishangul Gumuz Region)
Duration of Contract: One-year contract, Renewable (with 60 working days probation period)

Job Summary
The Scaling up CA Project Manager will be responsible for coordinating of all project field activities at project level and administrative activities at project target areas. He/she will be primarily be responsible for Project Design, planning, implementation, reporting, monitoring, and evaluation; staff and material management; financial management and coordination and networking with governmental and non-governmental agencies at project target areas.Principal Responsibilities
Key Result #1: Take a lead in Managing FH Ethiopia Scaling Up Conservation Agriculture Project
- Coordinate the preparation of project plans and ensures the timely submission to Climate Resilience Manager.
- Coordinate the trainings of conservation agriculture and fully be involved in the facilitation of the trainings to the project staff, government workers and target farmers and community representatives;
- Ensures that project activities are implemented in accordance with the project proposal signed between FHE and the Government;
- Conduct situation analysis in the project areas and designs appropriate intervention plan in line with the vision of FHEthiopia (FHE);
Key Result #2: Project Management (study, designing, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and funding)
- Ensure the preparation and submission of various periodic reports to Climate Resilience Manager, regional governmental, Zonal and woreda Sector bureaus.
- Monitors and evaluates project activities in collaboration with stakeholders, FHE head quarter monitoring team and other concerned bodies;
- Present the project profile, plan, report and different cases concerning the project on different woreda, zonal and regional level forums;
- Ensure that project implementation status is regularly gauged against the indicators in the project proposal to identify gaps and suggest correction measures to Climate resilience Manager;
- Propose project ideas to design new projects and share to the respective Unit at Head Office;
- Prepare annually and quarterly procurement plan and get approval for timely purchase of materials jointly with other projects to ensure wise use of resources.
Key Result #3: Networking, Coordination and Projects Management
- Networks with Assosa University, Assosa ETVET, Assosa Agricultural Research Centre, Assosa Soils Laboratory, Assosa Farmers Union, Cooperatives and all government and non-governmental agencies to collaborate in running the conservation agriculture business activities;
- Organize and handle all learning and lessons events with the respective local level project stakeholders and other who come to the project area in consultation with Climate Resilience Manager
- Makes the necessary contacts with Woreda, Zonal and Regional Offices for smooth relationship and maintains good understanding in the implementation process of the project; and hosts project visitors from donor and different organizations;
- Maintain good relationship with stakeholders;
- Represent the project on behalf of FHE on different forums and workshops at regional, Zone and woreda level
Key Result #4 Staff and Resource management
- Gives overall guidance, manages and coaches to staffs under his/her supervision;
- Ensures that performance evaluation forms for all employees are completed and submitted to the FHE Head Office timely;
- Ensure that project vehicles, motor bikes and cycles are properly managed as per vehicles management guideline of FHE;
- Ensures that human resources, materials and commodities are adequately available and properly utilized;
- Co-ordinates and creates team spirit among project staffs to maximize the achievements of the project;
Key Result #5 Financial management
- Ensures that financial resources of the project is implemented based on the planned activities;
- Show a higher integrity in handling financial resources allocated for the planned project;
- Ensure that resource utilization is economical and efficient in the project;
- Provide all necessary technical support to project Finance and Admin Officer to prepare monthly financial accomplishment report and submit to Head Office.

Safety & Security Responsibility
- Ensures that safety and security costs are included in all program budgets. These include, but not limited to: staff training on safety and security, site enhancements for safety and security, human resources (security officers), purchase/ maintenance of basic safety and security resources & tools and budgets for safety and security assessments.
- Communicating with all field level project staffs and making sure that all staff members are aware of the safety and security procedures;
- Facilitating implementation and revision of Country Office procedures when required. This includes identifying potentially risky situations and suggesting corrective measures;
- Encourages compliance of Safety and Security principles and policies of the organization by all staffs;
- Takes the leadership in the management of Safety and Security in the Projects. This includes identifying factors that increase risk, finding ways to reduce risk and planning ahead;
- Ensuring that all employees, local/foreign interns, as well as external consultants submit an updated Record of Emergency Data to their travels out of their base stations to accomplish FHE’s mission.

Experience
- Minimum of Six years related experience in the field, of out of which at least two years in a coordination or managerial position preferably in a similar program or INGO.
Education/Certifications
- A minimum of Bachelor degree in Agriculture, Rural Development, Natural Resource management or other related fields (with more preference to MSc degree)
- Trainings in Conservation Agriculture principles, Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA), Climate Change
Distinguishing Competencies
- Highly developed leadership, influencing and communication skills, and demonstrable capability in relationship building at all levels
- Proven budget management experience coupled with experience in implementing and working in accordance with corporate structures, policies and practices
Language
- Proficiency in both spoken and written English; ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. He/ She have the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
