Vision Fund Micro Finance Institution (S.C) is an Institution established according to proclamation No. 40/96 to provide financial services to the productive poor in the rural and urban areas of Ethiopia. Vision Fund is currently operating in four of the Regional States of the country.

Vision Fund MFI is currently looking for candidates for the position of Director, Risk and Compliance Management Service. The successful candidates will have skills and experience that meet the following requirements:

Major Responsibilities:

Planning

• Develops and submits for approval to the CEO annual risk management plan that outlines the activities to be undertaken by the Risk Management Department during the year;
• Conducts risk mgt. strategies trainings and awareness programs;
• Develop check list to conduct follow up the implementation of risk mgt. framework of the Institution;

Risk Management

• Conducts risk assessment on the company business situations, economic trends, future customer needs, company past performance, its key assets and areas of weakness & strength;
• Develops risk mgt. Principles, process, methodologies and standards and monitors their proper implementation;
• Calculate the degree of risks involved owing to changes the major management decisions;
• Assesses solvency using appropriate financial analysis tools;
• Identifies risks inherent in MFI’s business and measure and prioritized identified risks and develop adequate risk mitigating factors;
• Performs risk assessment on at least significant risk exposure of VF MFI and propose risk mgt. Strategies, for deliberation by the management or the Board;
• Analyzing current & long term trends and measurable influences;
• Undertakes Studies to determine risks involved in maintaining or establishing existing or new branches as well as level of performance
• Undertaking research and making analysis relative to risks in financial trends;
• Providing risk management tools that clearly articulate the needs of the company;
• Preparing practical contingency tactical & risk management plans & backup arrangements;
• Directing in-depth assessment on company business situations, economic trends, future customer needs, company past performance its’ key assets & areas of weakness & strength;
• Appraises compliance risk in relation to business operations or that arise from product development or customer relationship;

Compliance 

• Monitors the implementation of the compliance system of the MFI exist regulations which include the compliance program;
• Oversees and coordinates the implementation of the compliance system of the MFI to existing regulations which includes the compliance program;
• Provides an independent risk appraisal function of all aspects of operations;
• Reviews operations and transactions of the institution that could adversely affect the well-being of the institution;
• Take the lead role in assessing, analyzing and mitigating the risk profile of VISIONFUND by developing the necessary tools.
• Champions’ the efforts in managing risks closely monitoring the Areas and ensuring strict compliance to all policies and procedures;

Reporting

• Prepares risk assessment, evaluation reports on changes and trends that will have impact on company operations to CEO
• Maintains and update corporate level risk data base of the VF-MFI
• Prepares risk adversary reports on financial, operational and strategic risks associated with Visionfund Operations,
• Provides support to the CEO and other managers in monitoring whether the actions to rectify the reported risks acknowledged by senior management team are under taken promptly

Job Requirements

• Minimum of Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Management, Economics, Accounting (MA/MBA holders are preferred).
• Must have at least 10 years of working experience out of which 4 years in senior position in a Micro Finance Organization, Retail Banking or Enterprise lending institutions
• Knowledge of the VF- MFI’s policy, procedures and overall strategic direction
• Determined personality with initiative, perseverance and the ability to motivate and manage a team
• Capability and willingness to take responsibility and highly developed sense of rectitude
• Knowledge of risk management methodologies
• Ready to comply and live up to and in accordance with the organization Ideals and Core Values
• Knowledge of research methodology
• Good analytical and evaluation skill
• Be proficient in Microsoft office applications
• High level of customer service and strong willingness to work in the field
• Be a good trainer, facilitator, mentor, and coach
• Very good communication (presentation) skills
