OBJECTIVE:

John Snow, Inc. (JSI) works to improve health outcomes through engaging communities, supporting service delivery and strengthening health systems. Working closely with the Ethiopian Ministry of Health, JSI develops structures and procedures to enhance efficiency of health service provision.

JSI in Ethiopia (client) is seeking an experienced and high-caliber video production company to produce a short testimonial video to reflect on the experiences of a very important person (VIP) in JSI that will be showcased on a farewell occasion to a wide-range of audience groups2. SCOPE OF WORK:

The contracted agency/company (contractor) will be expected to provide a detailed work plan proposal for the project including an anticipated timeline, produce a storyboard to show sequence of the video, document the content through videography, produce the video and provide a final product through various means to JSI at a time agreed upon by both parties.

The contractor will provide up to three rounds of drafts in the process of storyboard and production phases and will incorporate feedback from the client on the drafts produced.

EXPECTATIONS OF THE CONTRACTOR:

The contractor is expected to provide the following during the stages of the production process:

• Develop a storyboard or storyline that will guide the production of the short testimonial video
• Develop respondent questionnaires and conduct interviews with the selected interviewees
• Sequence the interview clips according to the agreed storyboard/storyline
• Attend meetings with the client to get regular feedback and discuss the progress of the project.
• Meet agreed timelines of the project.
• Produce high-quality work that can be shared with local and international audiences.

EXPECTATIONS OF THE CLIENT:

The client will provide the following to the contractor at various stages of the production process:

• A briefing at the initiation of the project to guide the storyboard.
• Photos and other inputs that will be needed for content.
• Timely feedback on all drafts provided by the contractor.
• Information and details that will enable the contractor to carry out its work.

SPECIFIC TASKS/ACTIVITIES:

The specific activities to be undertaken by the contractor include but are not limited to:

1. Producing a detailed storyboard that will guide the video’s sequence using guidance provided.
2. Conducting the interviews with people who will appear to capture raw footage.
3. Compiling, editing and producing an engaging, concise, clear and entertaining piece.

OUTPUTS:

A high quality 10-minute video of testimonies, photos and captions for a farewell with possible subtitles (where necessary) in fluent English with appropriate background music and any other engaging methods deemed effective by the contractor. The contractor shall provide copies of the final products in high-resolution copies to the client.

REPORTING:

The contractor will report directly to communication and knowledge management advisors working at JSI.

Within 2 weeks from hire:

• Submission and review of bids and execution of contract.
• Introductory meeting between client and contractor and discussion of expectations.
• Briefings by client.
• Finalization of storyboard by client (including draft, and incorporation of feedback).
• Communication with interviewees to schedule video shoots.
• Finalization of logistical preparations.
• Scheduling of shooting.
• Next 2 weeks from hire:
• Completion of raw footage shooting.
• Editing and compiling of video completed.
• Submission of draft edit by contractor to client.
• Incorporation of client feedback.
• Final copy produced and shared with client.
