Job Description

  Purpose of the position:

Under reversing land degradation in Africa by scaling up the evergreen agriculture (Re-greening Africa) project, the Monitoring & Evaluation coordinator's primary responsibility will be undertaking regular field level activities in targeted Woreda’s of (Jeju, Hula, Shashogo, and Ambassel). He/she conducts monitoring, evaluation, and reporting activities and ensures implementation of project together with project officers, coordinates, tracks progress, and facilitates accountability and feedback mechanisms at a project and AP level. S/he will be responsible for the project and AP level planning, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting processes together with the re-greening project team in particular and AP team in general. S/he will be responsible for Project and AP level documentation of learning and best practices and sharing of the best and promising practices. S/he will be responsible for compiling, rolling out a project and social accountability mechanisms at the project level, compiling and analyzing feedback from communities and stakeholders, and supporting the project manager and technical officers. S/he will be responsible for timely tracking of project implementation, gathering data regularly, analyzing and synthesizing the data, prepare regular project-based updates, and reports.

Major Responsibilities:

Consortium Project monitoring, coordination, and liaison

  • Responsibly develops and prepares performance monitoring plan (PMP) guide and implement it together with project team including Project manager, technical officers and collaborate with other AP sectoral officers and finance team
  • Identify and contextualize key indicators from the National Standard TPs including target indicators that relate to project objectives and activities. 
  •  Maintains detailed schedules of activity and budget implementation tracking systems for activities monitoring and budget utilization for each Woreda.
  • Undertake all project’s monitoring, evaluation and reporting activities using set performance indicators by working closely with project technical officers using appropriate monitoring and reporting tools and methodologies.
  •  Facilitates all project’s monitoring and evaluations systems are maintained within the project and AP operational area by liaising with MEAL Department, Support Service Division (SSD) at HO, RO and CPO as appropriate.
  • Lead community sustainability planning and implementation with the community, partners, HHs and project staffs.
  • Ensure to prepare, and submit quarterly, biannual and annual plan and report activities undertaken as required to pace forward to the desired goal,
  • Maintains detailed schedules of activity and budget implementation tracking systems for activities monitoring and budget utilization for each Woreda.
  • Use appropriate data management systems, analyses data, aggregates data to the required level and synthesis results for report writing using appropriate and relevant tools. Use project prepared dashboards, regreening Africa Applications, WV systems and procedures including HORIZON and other NO’s established protocols
  • Coordinate and supervise MEAL tools are developed and utilized as needed, such as for household surveys, focus group discussions, and for collecting data from re-greening project sites on the engineering, economic and social aspects
  • Work in collaboration with teams under this project as well as other units in at most professional manner as deemed necessary

Job Requirements

Qualification required

  • BA/BSc Degree in Social sciences, Agriculture, Environment, Development Studies and related fields.
  • Preferred: Preferred: MA/MSc/ in Environment, Agriculture, Social Sciences, Development Studies and related fields
  •  Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in a relevant field, project Monitoring and Evaluation and NGOs experience is preferred
  • Significant bi-lateral donor grant experience with program implementation, funding acquisition, and reporting
  • Must be a creative individual with strong sense of priorities and organizational skills and an ability to work with diverse teams across considerable distances
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and strong interpersonal skills are needed
  • Must be able to negotiate ideas within and outside the World Vision partnership, particularly with donor communities and government. Use appropriate data management systems, analyses data, aggregates data to the required level and synthesis results for report writing using appropriate and relevant tools. Use project prepared dashboards, regreening Africa Applications, WV systems and procedures including HORIZON and other NO’s established protocols
  • Coordinate and supervise MEAL tools are developed and utilized as needed, such as for household surveys, focus group discussions, and for collecting data from re-greening project sites on the engineering, economic and social aspects

  • Optimum level of interpersonal skills to keep up internal and external harmonious working relation
  • Quick learner with the ability to think strategically and creatively
  • Excellent ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Federal language/s
  • Proficient computer literacy using of Microsoft Office Microsoft Word, Excel & MS PowerPoint
  • Excellent level of skills and knowledge on use of data management systems (SSPro, Stata etc…)

Working Environment / Conditions:

·      Office-based 75%

Travel: 25 % Frequent travel to a project site,
