Job Description

Location: Setit humera, mikadra,maygba, Dansha

Following the new CSP of Plan Ethiopia, the Emerging emergency humanitarian response, Plan is in vast emergency and recovery response throughout the country in all the Program areas including Afar and Assosa project sub offices.

The Storekeeper/Cashier is responsible for all warehouse operations activities including receipt, storage, control and issuance of supplies and equipment; receives deliveries, coordinating stock, documenting warehouse transactions and maintaining records. S/he is responsible in storing, releasing, compiles records of the supply in construction and other program activities. S/he is also responsible for petty cash management and transactions for effective field office running and support cash related project deliverables.

  • Maintains records of all incoming and outgoing deliveries of requested materials
  • Maintains the warehouse, records area and stores area in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Ensure that storage areas, facilities and equipment meet the minimum requirements and standards.
  • Control incoming supplies by checking brand, quality and quantity of good received against the actual order. Follow PIE’s receiving procedures strictly while receiving the deliveries. Reject any unacceptable food or products and inform immediate supervisor accordingly.
  • Report any discrepancies or damage immediately, before signing the reception document.
  • Immediately after reception of goods update stock cards and/or create stock cards for all stock items, register on the stock card the reference number of the reception document.
  • Insure items are properly organized and are correctly stored, well protected & fully identified (cleanliness, security, access …)
  • Ensure minimum petty cash is available for the normal functioning at field office level.
  • Check all financial documents are reviewed and approved before payments are affected.
  • Replenish all documents on time so that the organization record shows up to date balance.
  • Follow and pay all field office cash commitment are paid on time e.g. telephone, electric, & water bills.
  • Report all cash shortage/ overage and all unpaid vouchers of more than reasonable time.
  • Support the Emergency Response Finance and admin Officer in paying tax issues to the relevant tax authority.
  • Others as need arise and instructed by immediate supervisor.
  • Contract duration : 3 months with possibility of extension

Job Requirements

Qualification

  • Diploma in Business Administration, Purchasing & Supplies Management and/or other related discipline 
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in storekeeping, warehousing, stock control or related work in NGO
  • Excellent knowledge of MS-Office software suite
  • Ability to solve problems, take initiative and plan the tasks
  • Flexibility with time to work extra hours when the project requires
  • Able to work with minimum supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; both in English & Amharic
  • High commitment to work with pastoral communities in remote and challenging environments

Desirable

  • Experience in emergency project is an advantageous.
