WVE is working closely with the government and other stakeholders to respond to the needs of Internally Displaced People (IDP) in different parts of the country in its multi-sectoral response plan including ;Protection, Food and nutrition, Shelter, WASH and Education to rescue the life, safety and dignity of people affected the humanitarian crises, with particular focus on children and women.
This position is responsible for leading the implementation of the Psychosocial Support (PSS) interventions carried out in the context of Internally Displaced People in different parts of the country. The purpose of the position is to enhance provision of psychosocial support services for children and women affected by the conflict with the main purpose of resulting in improved psychosocial functioning, strengthened resilience, building up coping skills to overcome the trauma of displacement.
This incumbent is responsible for leading, coordinating and training of project staffs, service providers in the government sectors and at the grass roots communities to facilitate psychosocial service delivery and to improve mental health of the affected people. This requires working in a proactive and collaborative manner with internal and external stakeholders to achieve the targeted outcomes. While this work will be undertaken within the context of the broader WVE response to the IDP and humanitarian crisis, the incumbent is also in charge of equipping the CPP officers with basic knowledge and skills of MHPSS to apply in the course of implementing the CPP TP in all WVE operational areas.
Major Responsibilities:
- Taking a lead management role of designing and implementing of psycho-social services for the target IDP sites.
- Liaising with local government stakeholders (Women and children Affairs, Social Affairs, Health sector, faith organizations etc) and other stakeholders regarding implementing the psychosocial support measure to ensure complementarity and flexible, efficient service delivery to other emergency response plans.
- Undertaking establishment activities in relation to the measure to enable service delivery to commence as soon as possible.
- Undertaking an effective program management approach to the delivery of activities.
- Applying evidence based knowledge and understanding of the mental health systems, community health and service needs, service delivery, clinician challenges, and clinical pathways in designing relevant activities.
- Contributing to the strategic development of child protection and GBV prevention to address the psychosocial support measures beyond the emergency period.
- Representing World Vision as required in relevant meetings, network, promotion, and education and advocacy activities.
- Facilitate tailor-made training focusing on MHPSS topics for project officers, social workers, and experts in the government sectors.
- Provide technical support for the implementation of CPP TP in relation to building the capacity of CPP officers with essentials of MHPSS service delivery relevant to vulnerable children and families in the operation areas of
- Undertake other duties as required.
Job Requirements
- Master’s degree in public health, social work, clinical psychology, Counseling etc.
- Relevant experience in child protection in emergency (CPiE), GBV prevention. Mitigation and response and Child Protection Minimum Standards framework.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing psycho-social training programs and Psychological first aid service delivery mechanisms.
- Knowledge and experience in application of international technical guidelines and standards in Inter Agency for Mental Health and Psychosocial services
- Awareness of and interest in community-based protection mechanisms
- Knowledge and experience on Gender Based Violence programming an asset
- Demonstrated flexibility and creativity in planning and problem-solving
- Knowledge of and ability to implement integrated CP responses, including Gender-Based Violence
- Ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse team in a sensitive environment
- Knowledge of prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA)
- Direct case management and experience working with children and adolescents is an asset
- Ability to meet tight deadlines through excellent time management, organization, and multi-tasking skills

- Travel: travel to project site, RO, CPO and AP
- On call: 25%
